Department of the Far East, in the framework of academic mobility, cooperates with many highly respected universities in Japan. Such as: Saitama University, Osaka University, Waseda University, Hokkaido University, Tokyo University of Foreign Languages, Tsukuba University. As well as close cooperation with the international funds of the Japan Foundation and the Nippon Foundation, which contributes to the professional development of the faculty members. Annually, in the framework of cooperation with these universities, students and teachers of KazNU have the opportunity to undergo an internship at the universities listed above. The average number of students leaving for an internship is 15-20 people per year. The amount of annual scholarships is about 150,000 US dollars.

One of the noteworthy events of cooperation at the beginning of the new academic year was the visit of the professor of the humanities of Tokyo University Tonomur Masaru, invited by KazNU, to the department of the Far East. Within the framework of this visit, from 18.08 to 02.09.2017 a course of lectures of the scientist was presented at the department of Japanese studies. Professor Tonomura is a specialist in the history of Japan, as well as the author of many books and valuable scientific research, in particular on the theme "The history of the Korean people in Japan." Professor's lectures were visited by students, undergraduates, doctoral students and teachers of the department. The professor prepared for the listeners a unique presentation, thematically covering the main aspects of the history of Japan, which is very useful for students of the language, culture and history of this country. Starting with general theoretical knowledge, during the lectures the professor described in detail his studies, shared the results, commenting on all terms unfamiliar to listeners. At the end of the lectures, those present had the opportunity to ask the professor questions of concern to them, for which they received detailed and clear answers. The conduct of such lectures is of great importance for the Japaneseologists and promotes the strengthening of cooperation in the field of science and education with the universities of Japan.

This unique visit of the professor is no exception. Since in February 2017 the Department of the Far East held a scientific and practical conference on the problems of contemporary Japanese studies, in which the leading professors of the University of Tsukuba, Uyama Tomokhiko and Ono Masaki, also gave a new impetus to the scientific research of the teachers of the department.

Summarizing, it should be noted that the stay of Professor Tonomur became the guarantee of further cooperation between the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the University of Tokyo and the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU named after al-Farabi.
