9/12/2018

The Department of the Far East presented scholarship programs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, which were received by undergraduates, graduates and doctoral students of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

In addition, cooperation with the International Japanese Foundation, the Heywa Nakajima Foundation, and the Mitsubisi Corporation in Kazakhstan made it possible to receive a number of other scholarships for students studying at the Japanese Department of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The total amount of scholarships was more than 83 million tenge. Compared with last year, the Department of the Far East has increased the number of fellows, and the total amount has doubled.

The reasons for this success were the constant cooperation of the scientific and educational center for the study of Japan and Central Asia (the office of the University of Tsukuba) within the Campus in Campus project, the presence of the invited professor Ninomiya Takashi, and the leading specialist of the International Japanese Fund Onishi Yumi. So, in 2018-2019 academic year scholarship programs for students of KazNU were submitted from old and new partners of the department. Among them are University of Tsukuba, Hokkaido University, Tokyo University of Foreign Languages, Bunkyo Gakuin University, Waseda University, Sofia University and the University of Osaka.

Among 17 scholarship holders are undergraduates, graduates and doctoral students of the Department of the Far East (Japanese Studies), and graduate students of the Faculty of International Relations and the Higher School of Economics and Business. Congratulations to the fellows!
