12/26/2017

The UN Assistance Center, IRD, al-Farabi KazNU jointly with the UN Department of Public Information, Almaty, invites you to participate in the round table "Migration processes in contemporary international relations: problems and prospects" dedicated to the International Migrants Day .

As the guests we should note Vlastimil Samek and Alen Kuspanov, the representatives of UN Information Agency and AlmaU Professor Otarbayeva Bakhytnur. Key speakers of the event were students Diana Yurlova and Inkar Ospanova.

On December 18, 1990, the UN General Assembly adopted the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, and on December 4, 2000, the UN General Assembly established the International Migrants Day and decided to celebrate it every December 18 (Resolution 55 / 93). This decision was made in connection with the fact that in recent years the number of migrants around the world has increased significantly and the problems of mobility of the population have acquired colossal proportions. The UN General Assembly stressed the need to take further measures to ensure respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all migrants.

The initiative of holding the round table belongs to the students of the 4th year of the Faculty of International Relations who are convinced that it is the active involvement of young people in the public discussion on migration issues and global population mobility that is important in the context of the implementation of the sustainable development goals and stability in general.
