One Asia

As invited guest lecturers, Professor Kang Shin-pyo from Inje University in Korea and Professor Lopez-varela Asuncion from University of Complutense Madrid (UCM), Spain, contributed to the international program of Asian Community with the themes “We are One” on December 21 and “Semiotics and Cross-cultural Communication in the Asian Community” on December 5, 2018, respectively, for the students in the Department of Far East Studies, which is supported financially by the One Asia Foundation in Japan. Professor Kang has had activities of One Asia in Japan and Korea, and Professor Lopez-varela is leading the realization of the project of One Asia in the Faculty of Philology in her University. Both lectures, which were practical and powerful, helped students learn how to see and interact with the World and people from other perspective.

By the initiative of our scholars of the Department of Far East Studies, Chun Byong-soon and Myong Soon-ok, now, 3 universities in Europe (2 in Spain; 1 in Finland) as well as 4 universities in Kazakhstan are joining this international project of One Asia. These activities under the project will activate to expand academic and scholar exchange between universities in Kazakhstan and universities in Europe.
