7. to synthesize and transform the results of practical and sociological research in the field of Islamic and religious studies when drawing up recommendations, analytical references and other information materials using modern scientific, methodological and technical achievements in the field of Islamic studies and religious studies;

10. plan and conduct high-quality classes in the system of higher and secondary vocational education using a skillful combination of traditional and innovative techniques, interactive, student-centered technologies; participate in the work of Kazakhstan and international research teams to address scientific and educational problems in the field of Islamic studies;
11 organize work of social rehabilitation centers for people who have fallen into destructive religious cults on the basis of the latest innovative achievements in the field of psychology and sociology of religion, interdisciplinary research in the field of religion, aimed at reducing the level of radicalization of certain groups of the population, conducting explanatory work on the problems of extremism and terrorism among the population, as well as in institutions of the penitentiary system through retreats;

As a result of studying the discipline, the doctoral candidate will be able to: - critically analyze the conceptual, categorical, methodological apparatus of Islamic studies, - demonstrate a professional, competent understanding of the appropriate use of theoretical principles and methods of Islamic research on topical issues of modern civilization, - to apply modern technological advances in teaching kiragat-reading of the Quran; - To systematize and distinguish between conceptual approaches in determining the place of the Sunnah in the Shari'ah and the place of the Hadith in Islam and to develop scientific answers to questions of the trends that ignore the Hadith; - evaluate the criteria, requirements for determining the level of truthfulness of hadith in the science of heat and tagdil; qualitative and quantitative methods of Islamic studies. The discipline introduces doctoral students to the most popular texts of Muslim scholars, allowing them to recognize the origins of the texts using the comparative hermeneutic research. It introduces them to different types of classical Islamic sources such as Al-Fath Al-Qadīr as a classical Islamic source on Islamic law; Sharh al-‘Aqīdah Ahl-al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah as a classical Islamic source for Islamic doctrine; Ihya' Ulum al-Din as a classical Islamic source on Islamic ethics; Sīra Ibn Hishām as a classical Islamic source on the biography of the Prophet; Jāmiʿ al-bayān ʿan taʾwīl āy al-Qurʾān as a classical Islamic source on the interpretation of the Qur’an.

Hanafi Madhhab as the Dialogue Path in the Islamic Religious Tradition

  • Description - The objective of the discipline is to show the main stages of the theology development through the history up to the present, including their content. Upon completion of this course, the doctoral students are able to: - demonstrate the profound knowledge of socio-historical and theologico-dogmatic context for the genesis and development of main legal schools in Islam; - understand and interpret the canonical foundations of the Hanafi madhhab, analyze and logically argue the characteristics of the Hanafi school; - explain the role of Abu Hanifa, the founder of this school, in the formation and dissemination of this school of thought; - understand, explain, interpret and analyze the legal sources and decision-making process in the Hanafi madhhab; - assess the current state and perspectives of the Hanafi school development. The course highlights the role and significance of the theologians of the Hanafi madhhab in the history of Central Asia in the 8th through 15th centuries. Hanafi theologians played the key role in the interaction of Islam with the local cultural traditions, its adaptation to the regional heterogeneous ethnic composition, peculiarities in the economy, culture, customs and beliefs through many centuries. The course helps to traces the history of the theological school of Central Asia with its great names and the outstanding impact on the development of Islamic civilization. The students receive knowledge of the fundamental theoretical provisions of Islamic religion which serve as the foundation for scholars working in the field of Islamic theology.

Dialogic Mission of the Prophet Muhammad

  • Description - The purpose of teaching discipline is to study the spiritual foundations of the dialogue mission of the Prophet Muhammad, on which the religious beliefs of Muslims are based. Development of theological culture and ideological consciousness of the doctoral student. As a result of studying the discipline a doctoral student capable: - to be able to apply modern textbooks and to own methodological receptions in studying of science Hadith; - to analyze problematic issues of a Hadith studies; - to use a method of the comparative analysis at analytics of texts; - to apply the current systems of the semantic analysis and etymological doctrine of hadis; - to estimate classical works on a Hadith studies from positions of modern realities; - to process scientific and source study material, scientific articles, educational and methodical programs. The module introduces the doctoral students from the dialogue mission of the Prophet Muhammad, the practice of Islamic teaching, the legal and philosophical understanding of the characteristics of the Sunnah. In the course of learning the discipline, a special attention is paid to cultural and philosophical aspect of dialogue, the phenomenon of prophecy in Islamic world, the phenomenon of “nabi”, “rasul”, “bashir”, “nazir”, “muzakkir”, “shahid”, “dai” in Islamic tradition. The humanistic meaning of the Sacred Writing – Quran is revealed, the principles of dialogic politics in Islamic world are considered, an attention is emphasized on Hudaibiisk agreement as a dialogue of peacekeeping.

Upon completion of this course the doctoral students are able to: - demonstrate systemic knowledge and understanding of the formation and evolution of Sunni theology; - identify and explain the peculiarities of the Maturidi and Ash’ari schools of aqīdah, describing, distinguishing and critically interpreting the main provisions of the tafsīr of these schools; - compare and critically interpret the popular theological discourses of Sunni theology; - evaluate transformation, modification, and modernization of Sunni theology using the results of the research, correctly analyze them, predicting possible trends in the evolution of Sunni theology in the modern world. - mastering methods of interpretation of classical texts, their application in scientific researches The discipline identifies the main intersections of theology and philosophy in Sunni school of thought. The goal of the special course is to study the inner essence of the Arab-Muslim philosophy which is defined both by the general characteristics of philosophy and the peculiarities of classical Arab-Muslim culture.   • Description - The objectives of the course include studying the history and theoretical principles of the interpretation of the Qur’an, the history of the Book’s sending and codification. Upon completion of this module, the doctoral students are able to: - analyze the structure, principles and concepts of the main sources of Islamic religious education; - to apply various scientific methods for toning the text of the Quran; - to interpret the basic ideas of Islam in the Koran, including continuity and discussion in the development of religious and philosophical problems; - analyze the terminological apparatus for understanding Islamic religious texts and formulate them; - to classify the verses of the Koran according to the religious aspect. The course gives knowledge about the specific characteristics of the Qur’an content that include polemics, legends, parables, epic tales. It deals with the foundation of doctrines, dogma, and worship practices, as well as with legal and ethical regulations. It helps to understand the presence of the specific ideological, social, economic and ethical problems of the time in the Qur’an. The course deals with the historical background of the qur’anic tales, with the history of the canon formation, with the linguistic features of the text, with the interpretation (tafsīr) and translation of the Qur’an.

Islam and Globalization: the Basic Tendencies of Mutual Influence

As a result of studying the discipline a doctoral student capable: - to own methodological receptions in studying of history of Shia Islam; - to analyze problematic issues; - to use a method of the comparative analysis at analytics of Shia Islam and Sunni Islam in texts of Muslim scientists; - to own source study classical material; - to process scientific and source study material, scientific articles, educational and methodical programs; - to give lecture courses and to conduct seminar occupations. The module introduces the doctoral students using multidisciplinary approaches to the study of Shiite discourse in the context of Islamological disciplines; Scientific-theoretical and source-research arsenal. During the process of learning the discipline, a doctoral student studies the differences of Sunnism and Shi’ism, Shi’ism and Harijism, their divergence in questions of dogmatic. It emphasizes in detail on the questions of heritage of power in Arab Kalifate, conception of power in Shi’ism, the role of Shi’ism in becoming an Islamic ideology. Also, the dogmatic of Shi’ism is researched, the sources of forming the ideology of Shi’ism.

Shia theology and philosophical tradition

  • Description - The objectives of the discipline are to introduce the doctoral students to the main stages of the formation and development of Muslim religious philosophy, including the theological and legal background of its formation. Upon completion of this course, the doctoral students are able to: - demonstrate systemic knowledge and understanding of the formation and evolution of Shi’a theology; - identify and explain the features of the Shi’a aqīdah, describe, critically interpret and distinguish the dogmatic principles of the school; - compare and critically interpret the spread of the Shi’a theological discourse; - critically analyze the role of Hadith as a source in Shiite theology; - assess the current state of Shi’a theology according to the received research results. The course introduces students to theological and legal prerequisites of Shi’a theology formation, teaches its basic ideas, philosophical tradition and main doctrines. The course gives the methodological bases for the analysis of the Qur’an by the Shi’as. The flow of the discipline includes training in Arabic language and Arab-Muslim philosophy, reading of authoritative Islamic texts that served as the foundation of the Islamic doctrine and philosophy. Through the course, the students learn about the early ideological currents in Islam that preceded the emergence of philosophy, about the concept of the Arab-Muslim philosophy and the stages of its development.

Sufism in historical perspective

  • Description - The objective of the course is to form systematic and in-depth knowledge of the history of Sufism. Upon completion of this course, it is expected that the doctoral students are able to: - explain and analyze the causes and factors of the emergence of Sufism as a religious-mystical trend in Islam; - interpret the main categories of Sufism and their significance for the worldview; - comment on the sources and canonical literature of Sufism, understand the dogmatic and ritual differences of the orders; - explain the peculiarities of interpretation of the verses and suras of the Qur’an by the Sufis, to distinguish between regional and ethno-cultural distinguish characteristics of Sufism. - аnalysis of the major works of Sufism in Central Asia and Kazakhstan in the field of belief, worship and morals. Studying the historical development of Sufism within the course will allow students to assess more fully and objectively the role of Sufism in the history of Islam. Nowadays, when there is a subjective attitude towards Islam is widely spread, attention to the constructive principles of Islamic culture with its Sufi tradition, contributes to the formation of a more objective assessment of the contribution of Muslims to the development of the world civilization.

Sunni Theology and Evolution of Muslim Theological and Philosophical Thought

The questions of cultural traditions in Islamic civilization: the heritage of nomadic and settled life, spiritual and moral content of Islamic cultural tradition, as well as the phenomenon of Islamic culture in historical and cultural processes of Kazakhstan and the role of Islamic science, falsaf, kalam and sufism in forming the Islamic civilization are sorted out in detail.
