The department mission is to train a high-qualified specialists who will possess necessary language skills for everyday and professional communication and will be capable of continuous self-learning and improving their qualification in the future due to foreign language knowledge and to develop students’ foreign language competence.
Currently 72 teachers are working at the department including 8 candidates of science, 1 PhD, 47 masters, 15 senior teachers and 1 teacher. The department teaching staff teach foreign languages the students of non-linguistic specialties at bachelor and master degree levels.
KazNU TOEFL Center
To carry out tests on English language «KazNU TOEFL Center» was established at the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Philology by the decision of The Scientific Council of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and according to the agreement with American Organization: ETS (Educational Testing Service)
The center provides all university students, employees and applicants with an opportunity to confirm their language level to study at foreign universities, to participate in international educational English programs by passing TOEFL iBT and to check English language proficiency. Besides TOEFL Center offers preparation classes for passing TOEFL exam.
