TURKSOY Department of Oriental Studies al-Farabi Kazakh National University from 14^th June to 3^rd July 2021 organized in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the participation of students, undergraduates and doctoral students studying at the department of modern Turkic languages ​​of universities in Turkey (Hacettepe University, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Mugla Sytki Kochman University etc.) an online summer school on the topic "Kazakh Philology and Ethnography".

On May 20-21, 2021, the international scientific and practical conference "Kazakhstan and the Countries of the East: Past, Present, Future" was held, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On May 18, 2021, Mr. Ali Akbar Talebi Matin, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to get acquainted with the life of the faculty. In particular, he met with teachers and students of the Persian language department, one of the eight oriental languages ​​taught at the faculty, and teachers of the Middle East and South Asia department. During the meeting, the dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, PhD Y. Paltore introduced the distinguished guest to the current state of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the teaching staff. Mr. Ali Akbar Talebi Matin, cultural advisor of the cultural representation of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Kazakhstan, said that he will make every effort to continue the scientific and cultural ties between the two countries that have formed over the past 30 years.

On May 6, 2021, a charity event of the Consulate General of the Turkish Republic in Almaty was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The online research seminar/webinar "Religious Practices, Education and Digitalization: Research Methods" was held on April 29, 2021, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The seminar, which was attended by teachers, young scholars and doctoral students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, was held within the framework of the research activities of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, as well as the research project “Religious Institutions and Practice in Kazakhstan in the Context of Digitalization and Changing Social Space at a Times of COVID Pandemiсs” that has been implementing at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of al-Farabi Kazakh National University (the project funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ГФ МОН РК 2020-2021, ИРН AP08956706, project leader Dr. Laura Yerekesheva).

On April 26, 2021, the Republican Subject Olympiad in the specialty "5B021200-Oriental Studies"was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The traditional XIII Republican Olympiad among students of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the discipline "Turkology", organized by the Department of TURKSOY of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University, was held from 26 to 27 April. At the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the grand opening of the online courses of the Kyrgyz language was held. After providing support, the event was attended by the Chief Consul Alymukulov Aliyasbek and the Consul Zhakypov Kairatbek of the Kyrgyz Republic in Almaty. At the same time, having shown her warm attention, the owner of the "Abay" medal, a gold medal from the Head of State "Birlik" Perizat Almazkyzy, who translated Kazakh compositions into Kyrgyz, and Kyrgyz into Kazakh, took part.

By the decision of the UNESCO International Organization, 2021 was declared the "Year of Yunus Emre" in connection with the 780th anniversary of the great poet Yunus Emre, the founder of the Turkish Sufi school. On April 21, 2021, the Department of Turksoy of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Kazakh National University. al-Farabi held an international scientific conference on the topic "The place of the great Turkish poet Yunus Emre in the Turkic world."
