On may 30, al-Farabi KazNU hosted an online alumni Day at the faculty of Oriental studies. graduates of the Department of Chinese studies also met online. This year's event is unique because it is held online due to the negative situation in the country. Despite these reasons, the day of graduates was celebrated with special preparation and good mood.Today, graduates of the Department of Chinese studies working in different parts of the country, in the near and far abroad, in various fields, took an active part in this event and shared their sincere wishes and memories. The event began with a welcome speech by the rector of the al-Farabi Kazakh national University G. M. Mutanov, Chairman of the constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the alumni Association of the al-Farabi Kazakh national University K. A. Mami, Dean of the faculty of Oriental studies Yktiyar Moldatoreuly, Professor of history, doctor of science Aldabek Nurzhamal Abdrazakovna. The Department of Middle East and South Asia, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, together with the University of Saudi Arabia Al-Jouf (Al-Jouf University, Saudi Arabia) held the next international seminar on the topic: "Learning Arabic using modern technologies for foreigners."

On May 3, 2020, the head and teachers of the department of the Middle East and South Asia held an online meeting with students of the department on the issues of the summer session. The meeting raised questions about the types and technical capabilities of the exam.

Doctoral students of the first year of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia, Department of Turksoy, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, held a video conference with students on the topic “2020 - Year of the Volunteer in Kazakhstan”.

On April 18, has started the international online course called "Scientific meeting of Persian language and literature", organized by the Tabatabai University, Cultural representative office of Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Iranian studies branch of the Department of Middle East and South Asia, faculty of Oriental studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Teachers of the Division of Indology, Department of the Middle East and South Asia, Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a video conference with students on the theme "Spring Holidays of Kazakhstan and India" to strengthen the work on reviving the traditions of the Kazakh people in history, literature, local history, geography, dedicated to events aimed at increasing the love and patriotism of students.

On 11th of April, within the framework of the "Rukhani Zhangyru" program was held an event"expressive reading of Abai Kunanbayev’s poems in Arabic language " with the 3rd year students of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia.

From April 6 to 9, 2020, the international scientific conference of students and young scientists “Farabi Alemi” was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in remote format. The conference was attended by students, undergraduates and young scientists of universities and research institutes of Kazakhstan and foreign countries under the age of 35 years. The reports of participants of the theoretical, practical and applied nature of scientific innovations in various fields of science were heard.Participants in the sections “History, Politics, Economics of the East,” “Actual Problems of Oriental Languages ​​and Literature of the Countries of the East,” “Religion, Culture, Society of the East,” and “Countries of the East in the Foreign Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan” presented their articles at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.The conference was attended by doctoral students, undergraduates and students of the Department of Sinology.

March 26-27, 2020, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, KazNU named after Al-Farabi, the Republican Student Olympiad was held with a specialization in 5B020900 Oriental Studies. The goal of the Olympiad is to increase the language proficiency of students studying in the specialty “Oriental Studies”, develop creative abilities, increase their interest and activity in studies, select and support gifted students, and strengthen ties between universities.In accordance with the resolution of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 16-5 / 391 of 03/04/2020, the Olympiad was held online.
