The lecture of the Consul General was attended by approximately 50 people, including the head of the department of the Far East, Yem N.B., professor Myon D.V., visiting professors Lee Byong Jo, Jang Wonki, Yoon Hyunsuk and other teachers of the department. In his lecture, the Consul General spoke about the high potential of cooperation between the two countries on the basis of cultural and historical similarities, about the prospects and possible risks for the further development of international relations against the background of the unification of the two states of the Korean Peninsula.

January 29, 2020 Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, with the support of UNESCO, celebrated the 1150th anniversary of the great son of ancient Otrar, Abu Nasr Al-Farabi, in the country. Preparation for the commemoration of the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi was started in 2019, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev.
         A special state commission has been created, and our scientists are conducting comprehensive research on the search, collection, manuscript, study, and circulation of manuscript heritage stored in the world's archives.
        One of such good deeds, the honoring of the encyclopaedist-scientist, was celebrated at the Al-Farabi Research Center, opened at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University together with Abay International Club presented a 15-volume collection of works by Abu Nasr al-Farabi.
        Auezov, public figure and cultural scientist opened the meeting. The scientist noted that the first study of Otyrar's legacy in Kazakhstan began in the middle of the last century, with the merits of scholars, researchers, and translators, who have continued to pursue the course of national pharabitual science, founded by a well-known scientist, philanthropist A.Mashanov.
        Famous scientist, writer and director of Abay International Club R. Seisenbayev, who led the directing of the multivolume works of the Baba heritage, said, "There are two things to do in this world. One is God, the other is the saints. Al-Farabi is one of those saints. ”He emphasized that the duty of the nation was to impose on the minds of young people that the works of the great scientist were the great heritage of mankind and the iron line of life.
        The presentation of the volumes of al-Farabi was presented by the director of the Al-Farabi Center of the Kazakh National University B.Meirbaev, the dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Y.Paltore, the head of the department of the Middle East and South Asia P. Suleimenov and other heads and staff of the faculty, teachers and doctoral students, undergraduates and students.

Aysautova Aibanu, 2nd year student of the Department of Japanese Studies of the Department of the Far East, is chairman of the Sunkar Professional and Student Union is theThe “Sunkar” professional union of students and graduates provides financial assistance to students in the following categories: students left without parental care, single-parent families, a large family, students with disabilities, students with children, students suffering from stomach disease and diabetes. And also, the “Sunkar” Professional Union of Students organizes festive events and competitions between students. The organization also provides students with Onai cards.

On February 12-13, the 50th International Scientific-Methodological Conference “MODERN INTERPRETATION OF OF AL-FARABI’S PEDAGOGICAL CONCEPT IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITALIZATION OF EDUCATION” dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of al-Farabi was held at the library of al-Farabi KazNU.

After the plenary session of the first day was over, master classes and round tables were organized in each faculty. At the Faculty of Oriental Studies were organized master classes "Mechanisms of motivation for teaching Oriental languages".

At the department of the Far East in a master class, a senior lecturer Tsoi Mi Ok gave a presentation “Effective teaching methods of speaking in Korean,” visiting professor Yoon Hyun Suk “teaching methods for interpretation in Korean” and visiting professor Ninomiya Takashi “Optimal Japanese language teaching methods: nouns and numerals".

18.02.2020 in the House of Students No. 14, the curator-adviser of the 2nd year students of the Department of Japanese Studies of the Department of the Far East held an event on the theme "Culture of Healthy Nutrition".

02/17/2020.  At the Far East department faculty of Oriental studies al-Farabi Kazakh National University started South Korea thematic week.

The week began with the intellectual holiday "Korea and I" for 1st year students.  The event was organized by 2nd year students under the direction of senior lecturer Tashkenbaeva B.Zh. The organization and funding were prepared with the participation of visiting professor from Korea, Lee Byong Jo. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the social and cultural life of modern Korea, not only students Presentation was about on the features of Korea.  Students were divided equally into 4 groups which were asked interesting questions about Korean history, customs, current popular k-pop groups and dramas.  At the end of the competition, winners were determined and everyone received prizes.  The event was completed with Korean songs and dances.

February 12, 2020 in the framework of the 50th International scientific and methodological conference "Modern interpretation of the pedagogical concept of al-Farabi in the conditions of digitalization of education", dedicated to the anniversary of al-Farabi, at the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi at the Department of Middle East and South Asia of the faculty of Oriental studies, foreign doctors Sabri Muaz Suleiman Hussein and Abulfutuh Sabri Yunus conducted master classes.

February 14, 2020 at the Students House No. 14 of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, a Department of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Shin Saede student group organized a mini-cultural and educational literary event “Do you remember the days of your youth” in honor of the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayev.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Far East’s Japanese language teacher S. Borankulova and Professor of the University of Tsukuba Ninomiya T. conducted a course of vocational guidance in Atyrau schools within the framework of the University of Tsukuba.

         In schools of the city of Atyrau and Nazarbayev Intellectual School were informed about the educational process at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University’s Faculty of Oriental Studies. Students were informed about Japan and the Japanese language, culture, the process of entering universities in Japan and academic mobility in KazNU. Also, video materials about the university and graduates, as well as brochures were presented. Work on vocational guidance is important for the timely and informed choice of students.

Within the framework of the 50th International Scientific and Methodological Conference “A Modern Interpretation of the Al-Farabi Pedagogical Concept in the Context of Digitization of Education”, dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Al-Farabi, a master class was held by the teacher of Chinese Studies Mukatai K. on the topic “Ways to master Chinese characters by expanding vocabulary. ” The purpose of the master class is to exchange methods of teaching the language with colleagues, and also to consider ways to improve the understanding of Chinese students by expanding the vocabulary.During the master class, the importance of expanding the vocabulary of the Chinese language for students was demonstrated, ways to increase the vocabulary using keywords, root words, synonyms, examples and methods were presented. Teachers of Chinese were interested in the techniques presented at the master class and gained rich experience.
