The issue of inter-Korean relations and their unification of the Korean Peninsula does disinterested the students of the Department of the Far East, who study the Korean language.

Professors of the Department of Far Eastern Studies met with the President of the Republic of Korea. The state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in to Kazakhstan on April 21-23 is a part of his tour of Central Asian countries.

On April 27, the Bishkek University of Humanities held the 23rd Central Asian Speech Contest in Japanese. The competition was attended by 15 contestants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

April 24, 2019 2 professors of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University met with young scientists, doctoral students and undergraduates of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. 

On April 17, 2019, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in collaboration with “centre for Indian classical dances Almaty-Kazakhstan” held an event at the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the spring holiday “Nauryz-Holi-2019”. During the event, poems were read in Hindi, Kazakh folk dances were shown, of course, Indian classical dances were shown at the highest level. At the end of the event, participants were presented with letters of thanks.

March 28-29, the Republican Olympiad in the specialty 5B020900-Oriental Studies in Arabic was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
       Students of 2,3 courses of specialty 5В020900-Oriental Studies, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.N. Gumilyov and KazUIRWL named after Abylay Khan.

Today, Mr. Abdulmutallib Cetin, an expert consultant in the field of education, a representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

April 24 in 503 auditorium at 14.00 hours of the professor of the Hong Kong University Tran Shuayudun and David KS at the Department of Chinese Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the Kazakh National University, they will lecture on the topic “The Multilingual China’s language policy since the 1950s”.

April 20, 2019 in the Assembly Hall of the Preparatory Faculty of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University the regional stage took place in the city of Almaty of the 18th World Student Contest "Chinese Bridge". 

As part of career guidance, teachers of the Far East Department held an event for schoolchildren "Mysterious Japan." The event was attended by high school students of Almaty and students of the Japanese studies department. At the beginning of the event, first-year students introduced the Far East department, the Japanese studies department.
