Оn the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Almaty organized a memorial evening dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Republic of Turkey and the first President of the Republic of Turkey.

On November 15, 2023, on the basis of the Department of Chinese Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, a city workshop on simultaneous translation was organized under the guidance of Professor Daulet F.N., who teaches the disciplines "Innovative technologies and methodology of teaching translation" and "Modern translation concepts" for doctoral and undergraduates of the first year of study at the department.

Abdyrakyn Nurkhalyk, senior lecturer of the department, held a methodological seminar on November 14th, "Thinking and Representation in Translation". 

In the framework of the rapid development of Kazakh-Chinese relations, the company "Eastern Literature Publishing House" in Almaty took on the task of translating Chinese novels into the Kazakh language.

Representatives of the Academy of Social Sciences of the Qinghai Province of the People's Republic of China visited the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Confucius Institute of KazNU named after al-Farabi for the purpose of conducting research and academic exchanges.

Within the framework of the interstate programme "Türk Dünya Üniversiteleri", the Turkish TV channel "TRT" made a documentary film about a higher education institution.The purpose of the documentary was to present and popularise the leading universities of the Turkic world.

Today, 11/09/2023, the day of the people's poet and great thinker of Pakistan, Muhammad Iqbal, was celebrated at the department of the Middle East and South Asia Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Teacher of the Department of Chinese Studies, Bekbauova Zh.M. visited 火锅 (hogo) with her 2nd year students and where she talked about the history of the origin of the dishes, as well as Chinese culture. 

07/11/2023, 2nd year students of the specialty “Oriental Studies” of the Department of Arabic Studies, Department of the Middle East and South Asia, Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University visited the house-museum of Akhmet Baitursynov, the brightest representative of the Kazakh intelligentsia.
