One Asia in the context of cultural contents

Professor Lee Sang-In, as a guest lecturer from Hanyang University in Seoul, contributed to the Couse of Asian Community with the theme “Korean Cultural Wave and Korean Films in Asian Community” on March 15, 2019, which conducts as a regular discipline for the students of Department of Far East Studies under the international program of “One Asia” supported by One Asia Foundation in Tokyo of Japan.

Professor Lee is one of academic authorities who leads current ‘Korean wave’ in the domains of theater, film making, and film directing in Korean arts. Through discussion with students of the Course “Asian Community” and field works to Nauryz Festival on the roads of Almaty, Zelyony Bazar, Charin caynon, Big Almaty Lake and Chimbulak during his staying in Almaty for a week, he was so impressed that Kazakhstan has a rich storytelling cultural content which can be extracted from unique cultural assets of Kazakhstan. With eyes as an artist he saw that the culture and tradition of nomadic people which is quite different from that of the settlers’ culture is very attractive.

The realization of this international project of “One Asia” since 2012 in our University, the academic and scholar exchange between Al Farabi KazNU and universities in Asia and Europe has been activated and expanded.
