As invited guest lecturers, Professor Kang Shin-pyo from Inje University in Korea and Professor Lopez-varela Asuncion from University of Complutense Madrid (UCM), Spain, contributed to the international program of Asian Community with the themes “We are One” on December 21 and “Semiotics and Cross-cultural Communication in the Asian Community” on December 5, 2018, respectively, for the students in the Department of Far East Studies, which is supported financially by the One Asia Foundation in Japan.

On December 10, 2018 in the rector's office at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was held ceremony of awarding scholarships JSC "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan" in Almaty. Seven students who had a high GPA, as well as low-income families of Department of the Far East of the Oriental Studies Faculty of KazNU received scholarships in the amount of 110 000 tenge (770 000 tenge).

At the faculty of biology and biotechnology of al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the joint participation of Professor from M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University Ifkhan Suleyman oglu Allahverdiyev and Professor of the faculty of science from Tokyo University Tatsuya Tomo held the international scientific seminar "Bioenergetics on the basis of phototrophic microorganisms". The seminar was organized in the framework of the priority direction of development of science "Science of life and health" and initiated by a research group under the guidance of Professor of biotechnology department Zayadan B.K.

This also applies to the problems of improving the quality of education, and above all innovations that improve the educational process of higher education. In order to integrate the efforts of scientists and undergraduates exploring the issues of quality management in education from the point of view of different humanitarian areas of science and practice on December 7, 2018 on the basis of the Situational Management Center of the Kazakh National University. 

Samal Kadikova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of the Far East, undergoes an internship at the Japan Foundation, the Japanese Language Institute in Tokyo. Among eight winners-scholars from all countries of the world, the teacher of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University won the opportunity of the five-week program “Training Program for Teachers of the Japanese”.

A collection of poems in Kazakh language by Huseyn Javid, the outstanding poet and playwright of Azerbaijan of the beginning of the 20th century, was presented at Al-Farabi KazNU.

The 2nd year student of KazNU was accepted as employee of the Korean Republic newspaper «Koryeo Ilbo".
