KazNU took part in Islamic Finance Week as an advanced university for implementation and development of the Islamic finance model in education. Dean of the Higher School of Economics and Business, Dr. Rimma Sagiyeva spoke at the panel session on the Professionsl Development (Professional Development in Islamic Finance), where she highlighted the initiative to open an Islamic Finance Center at KazNU in collaboration with the AIFC and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar.

September 28, 2018 in the Library of Al-Farabi KazNU, on the basis of the Higher School of Economics and Business, a meeting of the representatives of the Astana International Financial Center with the students of graduate courses and the faculty of the university was held in the framework of cooperation between the AIFC and KazNU.

The Far East Department together with the Japan Foundation conducts career guidance work in Kazakhstani schools for the third year. Fruitfulness of this work can be observed by annually increasing number of students of the department of Japanese studies. In the 2018-2019 academic year, the number of first-year students reached 24. Many students came from different regions of Kazakhstan.

II International seminar on the creation of an educational program on the specialty "5В060800-Ecology" was successfully held in the period from September 17 to 21 of this year in the Al-Farabi library of our university.

At the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Professor of the University of Kochi (Japan), Mr. Inoue provided a guest lecture for students of the Far East Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies.

According to research results of the British Agency «Times Higher Education» (THE), Al-Farabi KazNU was the first and only among Central Asian universities to join the group 801-1000 of the best universities in the world «THE World University Rankings-2019». In total, the list of this rating includes 1,250 universities from 86 countries.
