On January 20, 2018 at the Faculty of Oriental Studies was a long-awaited meeting of alumni, timed to the discussion of the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the people of Kazakhstan on January 10, 2018.

The rector of al-Farabi KazNU Galym Mutanov met with the rector of the vice-rector of Istanbul University Aidyn Orhan Janbolat.

A meeting with Antoine Case the Vice President for international Affairs of the University Paris Diderot 7 was held at al-Farabi Kazakh national University. Welcoming the guest the first Vice-rector of al-Farabi KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev noted that the cooperation of KazNU with French universities, in particular, with the University Paris Diderot 7 are developing very active, and in the last year hosted the visit of al-Farabi KazNU rector Galym Mutanov.

A meeting with Vice President of the Shanghai University of transport Xu Xuemin was held at al-Farabi KazNU. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Dean of the faculty of mechanical engineering Jean Junlan, Deputy Dean of the faculty of physics and astronomy Chen Liwen, Deputy Director, International Department, Li Ping, Vice Dean of the faculty of materials science and engineering Chen Ke, Deputy Director of the training Department Chen Feng.

Within the framework of the agreement between the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the RADI Institute has been visited the main research facilities and organizations in the cities of Kashgar and Urumqi by university delegation headed by the Vice-rector for scientific and innovative activities of Ramazanov T.S., Technology Park  Director Temirbaev A.A., director of the Center for Earth Remote Sensing Sakhariev B.S. and Associate Professor of the Faculty of Geography and Nature Management Shokparova D.K.

In the framework of the “Ainalandy Nyrlandir” and “Salamatty Omir” projects, the Faculty of Oriental Studies held a meeting with Ermakhan Ibraimov, a boxer, an Olympic champion in the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000, a director of the republican state-owned enterprise "Olympic Training Center for boxing" and a graduate of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. 

In January 19 and 20 at the al-Farabi KazNU was held the 1st International Conference "Promoting the Mental Health and wellbeing of Children and Adolescents".

The Higher School of Economics and Business held a round table “Modern economist: reactivation of profession" in the context of State of the Nation Address by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev of January 10, 2018 "NEW OPPORTUNITIES UNDER THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION", attended by the faculty of the Higher School of Economics and Business, students, undergraduates and doctoral students.

A group of MDP/GC students from Al Farabi KazNU have been invited to witness a historical speech of the President of Kazakhstan. President Nursultan Nazarbayev will speak on non-proliferation of nuclear weapon at the UN Security Council, in New York City on January 18, 2018. This speech coincides with Kazakhstan's presidency over the UN Security Council - another historical event for the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the article, "A Glance at the Future. Modernization of Public Consciousness" the President of the country N. Nazarbayev, speaking about the competitiveness in the new global reality, stressed that Kazakhstan should be recognized around the world not only for oil resources and major foreign policy initiatives, but also for cultural achievements. Academic community and universities play a great role in this important work.
