From the winners of the Olympiad "Al-Farabi" to the KazNU students

42 winners of the Olympiad will study at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. These are the results of the Olympiad "Al-Farabi", which finished today in the KazNU.

At the closing ceremony of future students and participants were welcomed by the Rector of the KazNU Bakytzhan Zhumagulov.

“I think that many schoolchildren had once envied their Russian peers, who have had the opportunity by the winning the Lomonosov Olympiad "Vorob'evy gory” directly enters to MSU. We decided that Kazakhstan should have its own Olympiad – “Al-Farabi” Olympiad. This year, our first Olympiad was given a new status: the achievements of winners of the “Al-Farabi” Olympiad are equated to victories in the prestigious international competitions. Today, fulfill the dream of many a dozen students from different sides of the republic, and they rightfully could consider themselves students of the KazNU, - said the Rector of the university.

A year ago, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan the main university of the country has introduced a new concept of quality student recruitment, realized through the subject Olympiad. Olympiad “Al-Farabi” just a second year, but has already become the most massive and felt to be needed among graduates of schools of the republic.

Director of the Republican Scientific Practical Centre "Daryn" Tildash Bituova highlighted successes:

“Last year, the Rector of your university took the initiative to host the “Al-Farabi” Olympiad. This year Olympiad has the Republican status. This is a huge success of the university administration, which allows many gifted children actually carry out their beautiful dream - "to study in the KazNU!".

All participants who successfully complete the Olympiad selection, received diplomas and certificates of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Nurat Desebaev from Taraz, winner of substantive competition on the history of Kazakhstan, believes that the entering to KazNU - is a big success. And now he is sure that in his life he will make great strides.

Graduated Almaty Lyceum № 24 Kurmet Oken won first place in the Olympiad in physics. "I chose physics, because now the country needs specialists in the field of new technologies. Our President has always highlights that Kazakhstan should make the intellectual leap into the future. And the KazNU - it is my firm belief - give me a real knowledge and a good education the world level”.

The magnitude of the Olympiad "Al-Farabi" grows with each passing year. Olympics-2010 was first held on the 14 school subjects. It was attended by 12,000 pupils of the republic, twice as the past year.

Qualifying rounds “Al-Farabi” Olympiad with support of MES and provincial education departments were carried out by visiting committee, consisting of leading lecturers of KazNU. Within the two months, they visited all the regional centers of Kazakhstan, in Almaty and Astana, providing high school students from 900 schools participated in the Olympiad.

This year, the Olympiad Organizing Committee is pleased to note that participants in the Olympiad again showed a high level of training. 42 pupils have won prizes, 2800 students have overcome the checkpoint of Olympiad, with over 70 points.
