A specialized “Elsevier day” workshop on publications in Scopus was carried out by the representatives of Elsevier at the library of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
Elsevier is one of the world’s top four largest publishers of scientific journals, providing over a quarter of articles, published around the globe.
As the Regional Director for Central Asia and Azerbaijan – Aliya Ospanova mentioned in her statement, Elsevier, the database of which contains journals in various scientific fields, offers the most famous and reliable information resources for research works. She also provided information on ScienceDirect, the world’s largest citation database – Scopus, and other Elsevier services.
Aside from that, the representatives of «Elsevier» made a presentation on the activities of the company, discussed issues of publishing and promotion of articles in high-ranking scientific journals, as well as offered practical recommendations on avoiding “predatory” journals. The workshop also featured themes on the Mendeley platform and other intellectual platforms for preparation of publications and literature review drafting.
Al-Farabi KazNU first Vice-rector M. Burkitbayev, who was present at the workshop, stressed the importance of cooperation with international scientific databases in terms of presenting the University scientists’ activity and output to the world scientific community. At the same time, he noted that the “Elsevier” days make it easier for us to grow and learn more on the quality of the scientific articles.
