The delegation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, dean of the faculty of Oriental Studies Yktiyar Paltore, director of the center of “Written Materials and Cultural Heritage” Zubayda Shadkam, Head of the Department of Religious and Cultural Studies Ainur Kurmanaliyeva and teachers of the faculty of Oriental Studies Shynar Kaliyeva, Kaldybai Kydyrbayev have made a special business trip to the world-renowned al-Azhar University in Egypt and worked on developing partnerships to integrate into the world educational space.

The study mainly focused on the new possibilities of teaching Arabic language, based on the rich experience of Al-Azhar University, the development of Islamic studies and educational programs, the establishment of a realistic collaboration on researching manuscripts but, most importantly, with the aim to activate the heritages of Abu Nasr al-Farabi, to acquire the works of Al-Farabi and the copies of research works made on them that are situated in the Al-Azhar Library.

The opportunity to work in the al-Azhar Library, manuscript fund and passing language internships has been opened for young Kazakh scientists. The invitation of qualified specialists on Islamic philosophy and Islamic principles is a new impetus for one of the new specialties of our university – “Islamic Studies”.

In this regard, it is appropriate to note the work of Al-Azhar with “the Center for Prevention of Religious Extremism and Terrorism”, as an experimental center for our country. This center differs from other organizations with features as it makes analysis on religious extremist groups of the world, distinguishes the methods they use, the barriers against them, and has extensive research and cognitive information about possible religious extremist groups that may appear in the future, and publishes this information within the most 12 widely used languages in the world. In the center we found out that the qualification of specialists, continuous monitoring, analysis of operational information, the conclusion making methodology and rational use of the latest technologies have established specific level.

The work of the Contemporary International Settlement department is crucial for timely guidance on the root causes of religious domination in the Islamic world. Timely responding to questions from around the world, frequently repeating, as well as working out preliminary responses to potential issues that may arise in the future, will substantiate the importance and urgency of the department.

The business trip was completed successfully with 28-volume catalog of the manuscripts of the Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyip of Al-Azhar Library, the copies of the manuscripts of Abu Nasr al-Farabi, and the electronic version of Al-Farabi scientific researches presented to our university proves the clear respect to the Al-Farabi University.
