Apple Orchard to Nauryz!

Al-Farabi KazNU held a huge celebration of Nauriz! Together with representatives of the Diplomatic corps and International Organizations, an apple orchard was planted. The grand event was dedicated to the biennium of the program «Ruhani Zhangiru» and the main provisions of the Elbasy’s article «Seven Facets of the Great Steppe».

As the First President N.Nazarbayev highlighted: «... the foothills of the Alatau are the historical homeland of apples and tulips» and it is quite symbolic that the holiday began with the planting of an apple orchard. Representatives of foreign Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations accredited in Kazakhstan, and prominent public figures and scholars, veterans and graduates of different years, representatives of the Media, teachers, students and their parents took part in it. They have planted more than 300 saplings of different varieties of apple trees, as well as valuable and decorative trees on campus alleys.

Opening the grandiose theatrical performance prepared by students and creative teams of the University, KazNU’s Rector, Academician Galym Mutanov noted that celebrating of Nauryz at the international level has become a good tradition. «We have dedicated our holiday to the biennium of the large-scale program of modernizing public consciousness «Ruhani Zhangyru» and we meet it with new achievements. KazNU, as the flagship of higher education in Kazakhstan, is confidently pursuing a course of transformation into the world-class research university. Successfully implementing the 4.0 University model, our multi-thousand team has been achieving high results, including at the international level», - said Rector welcoming the guests. He has wished everyone a good spring and holiday mood, well-being and success in work and education.

A magnificent and fascinating musical and theatrical performance entitled the «Seven Facets of the Great Steppe», which is based on the article of the same name by the Elbasy, was organized in front of the Students’ Palace. The creative teams of the University have demonstrated the great achievements of the Kazakh steppe: riding culture, an ancient metallurgy and animal style, the Golden Man and the Great Silk Road, Kazakhstan as the cradle of the Turkic world – the Homeland of great thinkers and scientists, apples and tulips. The following Kazakh customs and traditions were presented to the public – «Tusau Kesser», «Shashu», «Kyz Uzatu» and others. The grand performance was ended by caravan procession and the words of blessing by Kydyr-ata!  

Moreover, an ethno-aul composed of 25 yurts was settled on the campus. Guests and participants of the holiday could taste national dishes, and they could see the decoration of yurts and play on the Altybakan-swings there. 500 kg baursaks, 200 kg. pilaf and 700 liters of Nauryz-kozhe were prepared for guests, students and residents of the neighborhood. Young boys and girls have competed in the art of singing and playing national musical instruments. The strong and brave horsemen have competed in skill and dexterity in national sports. There were also organized the book fair and souvenir rows of masters of applied art.
