New Stage of Cooperation

The leadership of Al-Farabi KazNU and representatives of the Sofia University (St. Clement of Ohrid), Bulgaria has outlined new areas of cooperation.

During the talks, KazNU’s Rector Galym Mutanov, acquainted the guests about the University’s activities and achievements, the programs of transforming the University into a research University, and developing innovations.

Moreover, emphasis was placed on international cooperation of KazNU, which is successfully carried out with more than 550 HEIs in the world, including with Universities in Europe. KazNU currently cooperates with Sofia, Shumensky and other Universities in Bulgaria.

The Parties discussed issues of double-diploma education, academic exchange, joint summer schools and international conferences, as well as exchanged views on the possibility of developing joint Master's programs and projects.

It was noted that in 2015, KazNU together with Sofia University has developed an educational program. This year, under this program, undergraduates of KazNU defended their dissertations.

«Thanks to the close contacts of the two Universities, the International Summer School called «Kazakhstan: the Modern World and Traditions» was held. Such cooperation is aimed at forming a positive image of Kazakhstan and Kazakh culture, by creating an optimal environment for further strengthening academic, scientific, cultural ties between the two countries», - said Aliya Masalimova, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science.

In turn, the representative of Sofia University, Maria Stoycheva highlighted the main directions of Sofia University and expressed great interest in the development of cooperation with KazNU, which is a leading University in Central Asia.

During the meeting, the Parties paid special attention to the development of education and science in accordance with modern requirements in the areas of advanced training, the creation of joint research projects, development of various programs, and exchange of experience.

In conclusion, the important directions of the new stage of cooperation between Universities have been determined.
