Consonance of the Message of Kazakh Radio and the UNESCO

The coronavirus epidemic has become a global pandemic. Kazakhstan is also experiencing the effects of this disaster. In this situation, every Kazakhstani must support the state in the fight against the epidemic.

In emergencies, the radio plays a special role in transmitting information and insuring the public. With 100 years of history, Kazakh Radio presents the largest broadcast network in the country. More than 90% of the population, as well as residents of the border regions of Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, listen to it. Therefore, each piece of information broadcast on Kazakhstani Radio is close to the hearts of the audience.

The UNESCO calls for support to the initiative to combat false information. Today, the UNESCO has mobilized radio stations around the world to prevent, protect and combat the spread of the virus. In order to combat false information about COVID-19 and promote a healthy lifestyle, the UNESCO has released a series of audio messages that can be freely used by radio stations around the world. The Short audio messages provide useful information about the prevention of the epidemic, the spread of myths about the virus, the importance of cooperation.

Although these broadcasts are only available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic, they are now available in Kazakh. The sound clip was prepared by the creative team of the Department of Press and Electronic Media of the Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi KazNU. Translation into Kazakh language was done by Professor Gulmira Sultanbaeva, into Russian - PhD student Aitolkyn Ashimova. Voiced by PhD Zarina Buenbaeva. They are downloaded free of charge and can be broadcast by government, private and public radio stations around the world. Kazakh Radio calls for the dissemination of truthful and objective information.
