Alumni Day of KazNU

According to a longstanding good tradition, an Alumni Day of Al Farabi KazNU was held on the last Saturday of May. This year it was dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr Al-Farabi and was held in an unusual online format.

Such format of the event was conducted in the University for the first time. This large-scale event covered thousands of graduates of the leading University. Thanks to the efforts of the organizers and the possibilities of modern technologies, the graduates were able to see each other many years later, congratulate their own alma-mater on its achievements, share their news, communicate and enjoy each other’s success. The holiday was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, giving its participants flood of positive emotions and a charge of energy.

More than 3 thousand graduates of KazNU, including famous state and public figures, Deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Diplomats, Heads of Mass Media, and graduates of different years attended the online meeting. The Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the Alumni Association of KazNU Kairat Mami, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhakyp Asanov, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Bakhtiyaruly, Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bulat Sarsenbayev, laureate of the Al-Farabi State Prize in the field of Science and Technology of 2019, Aisulu Tursunova, Rectors of HEIs and Directors of Research Institutes, as well as many other famous personalities of our country have congratulated their alma mater.

With great interest, the participants watched the congratulations of the Rector of KazNU, Academician Galym Mutanov and a video about the achievements of the University – «KazNU: the University Looking Towards Future». President of the Alumni Association K.Mami made a presentation of the new project «Mentorship - Opportunities for Everyone». The project, which has been unanimously supported, is aimed at strengthening ties between alumni and the University, and it is designed to help students, young scientists and teachers to acquire professional skill and experience of older generations, find application of their knowledge and competencies in modern society. To this end, meetings, master classes, leadership lectures and practical consultations of alumni-mentors and other events will be organized.

The University has received more than 500 video congratulations from graduates from more than 20 countries abroad: Japan, China, Canada, Germany, England, the USA, Turkey, Poland, Israel, Republic of Korea and others.

The Alumni Day has demonstrated the unity and cohesion of many thousands of teachers, students and graduates of KazNU, the importance of enduring values, science and education, peace and understanding.
