Graduates of KazNU – People’s Writers

Al-Farabi KazNU is famous for its graduates. Many well-known Kazakhstani writers who made up the glory of national literature were educated at the University.

The honorary title «People's Writer of the Kazakh SSR» was approved by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR on January 20, 1984. It was assigned to prose writers, poets, playwrights, translators, critics and literary critics, who created highly ideological works of literature and literary works that were widely recognized and took an active part in the public life of the Republic.

Over a long history, the University has nurtured a pleiad of prominent figures and talented, distinctive writers, who can rightly be called as People’s writes. This honorary list includes: Olzhas Suleimenov, Abish Kekilbaev, Anuar Alimzhanov, Moris Simashko, Muzafar Alimbaev, Mukhtar Magauin, Khalizhan Bekhodzhin and many others.

These names forever entered the history of the University and the country.
