Tracker COV|KZ against the Pandemic
10/22/2020Young scientists and IT specialists of Al-Farabi KazNU have developed the Android application «Tracker COV|KZ», which helps to recognize symptoms of the coronavirus and see a doctor in time to diagnose and treat the disease.
Today the whole world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, measures are being taken in Kazakhstan to prevent a second wave of dangerous infection, and scientists from Al-Farabi KazNU are contributing to the common cause.
The global pandemic has identified an urgent need for rapid diagnosis and timely medical attention. This has intensified the work of scientists and innovators to create new, modern diagnostic systems, including those using digital technologies. At the leading University of country, young scientists and IT specialists have developed the Android application «Tracker COV|KZ», which enables people to monitor symptoms of the coronavirus on their own and seek medical help on time.
«Today we are concerned about the disappointing forecasts associated with the second wave of the pandemic. The goal of our development is to teach users to monitor their health via a mobile application and to seek medical help in a timely manner at the first symptoms of coronavirus infection. This is very important as the time factor directly influences the course of the disease and the effectiveness of treatment», emphasized Saule Torekul, engineer of the Center for Analysis and Data Processing of KazNU.
As explained by the developers, the application does not claim to be a method of accurately diagnosing the virus and does not provide a medical report; it provides recommendations on the need to seek help based on the set of characteristic symptoms. The mobile application includes a dynamic survey system that provides a detailed report on the presence of coronavirus symptoms. It also makes it possible to send these results to a medical institution or doctor. In addition, the application can track current statistics on the situation with COVID-19 in Kazakhstan. It is now available in two languages – Kazakh and Russian, and it is planned to create versions in English and for OIS. The Android application can be downloaded from Play Market and installed on a mobile device.
According to the Centre for Analysis and Data Processing of KazNU, the work on improving «Tracker COV|KZ» will continue, and changes will be made taking into account the feedback from users.
