Remarkable performance of KazNU educational programs
3/4/2021Al-Farabi Kazakh National University improved its performance and strengthened its position according to the results of the “QS World University Ranking by Subject 2021”, where more than 1,200 world universities are ranked in five different subject areas. Compared to last year, KazNU significantly improved its performance in the “Arts and Humanities”, going up from the 277th to the 156th place and in “Social Sciences and Management”, from the 351st to 257th place.
The specialty of “Modern Linguistics” of KazNU demonstrated excellent performance, by being placed on the 52nd place among the best universities of the world. In particular, KazNU has shown its excellence in such specialties as “English Language and Literature” (top 101-150), “Linguistics” and “Law” (rank 151-200), “Economics and Econometrics” (rank 251-300), “Mathematics” (rank 301-350), “Physics and Astronomy” (rank 501-550).
For the first time, the specialties as “History” (top 151-200), “Business and Management” (rank 401-450), “Computer Science and Information Systems” (rank 501-550), and “Chemistry” (551-600) were ranked in this rating.
The methodology of the “QS World University Ranking by Subject” is based on four key indicators: academic reputation, reputation among employers, citation of scientific articles and the Hirsch Index. The rating is compiled on the outlook of more than 95 thousand educator-experts, 45 thousand employer-experts, as well as on the statistics from the Scopus database.
The educational programs of al-Farabi Kazakh National University in all these specialties occupy leading positions in the national rankings among Kazakhstani universities. On the path of transforming into a world-class research university, KazNU is successfully advancing both in the global and in the subject rankings of world universities. Thus, in 2020, according to the results of the global QS rating, the leading Kazakhstani university was ranked the 165th in the list of the best world universities. Only Lomonosov Moscow State University and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University were included in this group from the universities of CIS countries.
