KazNU was the first to be awarded the QS "5 Stars" excellence among the universities of the country
3/18/2021According to the results of an independent assessment carried out by the authoritative international rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was highly assessed and became the first and only university in the Central Asian region to receive "Five stars" of Excellence in the international "QS Stars Rating System".
The audit conducted by the QS British company evaluates universities in four key groups, which include 12 subgroups, consisting of more than 50 indicators, reflecting a wide range of university activities and its compliance with high international standards. The universities participating in the audit are awarded from one to five stars for each subgroup, and then subsequently an overall rating score is derived. Based on the results of a comprehensive assessment of QS on indicators as training, employment opportunity, research, internationalization, services, art and culture, innovation, modern languages, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University received the maximum "5 stars" score.
Assignment of the QS "Five stars" of Excellence means that Al-Farabi KazNU has a high international reputation and demonstrates leadership positions in the global scientific and educational space. The stars of excellence demonstrate the strengths of the university, highlighting the advantages and providing guidance to the partners, international experts in the field of education, both foreign and domestic applicants when choosing a university for education.
The QS Stars system provides an in-depth assessment with detailed descriptions and extensive data involvement. Such an audit allows the university to be assessed in a broader and more detailed way than in the framework of the annual ranking. Receiving the QS "Five stars", the university has gained another tool for promoting its educational programs and research, and therefore is increasing its competitiveness.
It is worth noting that there is no other university in Central Asia and Kazakhstan that has QS "Five Stars" except Al-Farabi KazNU.
Only 62 universities of the world have QS "5 Stars", among them are Harvard University, Oxford University, Cambridge University, University of Chicago, Princeton University, Columbia University that are in the world top 5, top 10 and top 20 of the international global QS WUR ranking.
