The III Summit of Future Leaders “The Role of Youth in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals within the Decade of Action.
The international "Summit of Future Leaders - 2021. Platform of the Reason" was organized by the Institute for Sustainable Development. Ban Ki-moon at KazNU and the Secretariat of the Model United Nations Organization - "New Silk Road" with the active support of the UN Information Center in Almaty, the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the International Organization "Helping Hand", as well as foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Kazakhstan.
The summit was opened with a welcoming speech of the vice-rector for scientific and innovative activities of KazNU named after al-Farabi of Professor Tlekkabul Ramazanov. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor of KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev, Head of the Multilateral Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Didar Temenov, Representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in Kazakhstan Vlastimil Samek, UN Representative in India, Senior Coordinator of UNITLABS Programs Rajiv Gulati, Coordinator programs of the Center for Global Citizenship in Vienna (Austria) Julia Zimmerman, ex-director of the MDP Global Classroom KazNU Rafis Abazov and others.
The online summit brought together more than 100 young leaders from different countries to discuss topical issues in the following areas: "Immunization from the Covid-19 pandemic", "Quality online education", "Gender equality and the empowerment of women", "Impact of Covid-19 to update the economy ”and“ Preventing online bullying ”. During the event, a discussion and exchange of views of world experts and students on the methodology "Design Thinking" took place. The forum brought together young participants to exchange vision and experience, develop constructive action plans and projects.
As a reminder, Al-Farabi KazNU became a member and then one of the ten global hubs of the UN Academic Impact Program and made a significant contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and UN global initiatives at many international platforms. The University has maintained this honorable and responsible status since 2014. The Institute for Sustainable Development named after V.I. Ban Ki-moon, opened with the personal participation of the 8th UN Secretary General.
