In KazNU named after Al-Farabi, a meeting was held with the delegation of the Arab Republic of Egypt headed by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Kazakhstan Ms. Manal Yehia El Shinnavi.

During the meeting, issues of developing mutual cooperation in the field of science and education were discussed. Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Board-Rector of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, noted that there are long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, which contribute to the development of the economy, science, education, culture and other spheres. The head of the university stressed that KazNU seeks to develop close cooperation with Egyptian universities and is ready to accept new students within its walls.

Today, more than 2.5 thousand foreign students study at KazNU, and among them there are students from Egypt. Over the past year, four professors from this country have visited the university with lectures.

The rector of the university expressed gratitude for the opening in the Arab Republic of Egypt of the Al-Farabi Scientific and Educational Center at the University of Cairo. He also emphasized that KazNU intends to continue cooperation in many areas, including joint training of specialists, implementation of academic exchange programs, professional development of teachers, development of scientific and educational programs. It was also proposed to hold joint international conferences and symposia in an online format and implement a double-degree education program.

During the negotiations, the head of the university asked for assistance in finding ancient books, works of scientists and Arab travelers about Kazakhs, as well as rare dictionaries in Turkish and Kypchak languages, which are stored in the archives of universities and museums in Egypt.

In turn, Ambassador Manal Yehia El Shinnavi thanked the leadership of the university for the warm welcome and shared her impressions of the university, expressing an opinion about the great potential of KazNU for further joint projects.

In 1991, Egypt was the first among the Arab states to recognize the independence of Kazakhstan. The friendly relations between the two countries are bearing fruit. So, in 1993, on the initiative of the First President-Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Egyptian University of Islamic Culture "Nur-Mubarak" was opened in Almaty, which served as a new impetus for the further development of friendly relations between the two countries.

Ms. Manal Yehia El Shinnawi noted that the leadership of the Arab Republic of Egypt is interested in qualified personnel and today sends its talented youth to the best universities in the world for training in various specialties, including in the field of IT technologies. Among the countries of Central Asia, the University of KazNU named after Al-Farabi was chosen. Ms. Ambassador expressed interest in partnership with the leading university in Kazakhstan and proposed to update the Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed in 2009 between the university and the Egyptian Embassy in Kazakhstan. She also announced her readiness to support the proposals of the university leadership to expand cooperation and joint projects in the field of science, education and culture.
