ALTYN ORDA HISTORY STUDY CENTER TO OPEN
6/22/2021The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific and theoretical conference on the theme "Golden Horde: at the junction of civilizations", dedicated to the 750th anniversary of the formation of the Golden Horde.
The purpose of the conference is to discuss the role and significance of the Golden Horde in world history, new conceptual approaches and trends in the study of this topic, as well as consideration of the origins of Kazakh statehood.
The event was attended by well-known foreign and domestic historians: Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of History, Professor B.E. Kumekov, Director of the Institute of State History, Doctor of History, Professor Burkit Ayagan, Doctor of History, Professor Yulai Shamiloglu (Nazarbayev University), Doctor of History, Professor M. Eleuov, Doctor of History, Professor T. Omarbekov, Doctor of History, Professor N. Kenzheakhmet (Harvard University, USA), Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of History, Professor B.B. Karibaev, Ph.D., historian-restorer, costume designer, Tatiana Krupa (Ukraine), PhD, Kubilay Atik (University of Nevsehir Haji Bektasha Veli, Turkey), PhD, Cihan Shimsek (University of Szeged, Hungary) and other scientists.
Opening the conference, the Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev focused on the importance of the role of the Golden Horde period in the history of Kazakh ethnogenesis and statehood. “Our task is to objectively study the history of the Golden Horde and bring the research results to the public. The history of the Golden Horde, which has become one of the most powerful empires in the world, and the significant date - 750 years - should become the starting point for further research, ”the head of the university said in his speech.
The speakers noted the role of the Golden Horde period in the history of Kazakhstan, which requires study. Domestic and foreign historians shared new historical facts and documents that were found in repositories and archives of different countries. According to the Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of History, Professor of KazNU Bakhyt Karibaev, a huge number of written sources and cultural monuments associated with the Golden Horde have been preserved in the vastness of the great steppe of Kazakhstan. Scientists historians have assessed the scientific discoveries and original conclusions of researchers regarding the mutual influence and symbiosis of the cultures of the Golden Horde on the basis of the latest archaeological research in such ancient cities as Saraishyk, which was the spiritual capital of the Jochi ulus, the Nogai Horde and the Kazakh Khanate. They also discussed the role and significance of the largest trade and craft settlement Kyshkala, where research work is currently being carried out.
Also, on the basis of the results of the restoration work of the costumes found in the Bolgan-ana mausoleum, an analysis of aspects of the daily life and life of the Zolotordians was presented.
During the forum, modern trends in the study of the political, cultural and social history of the Eurasian continent were highlighted. The speakers noted that the international theoretical conference will give a great impetus and mobilize the scientific community for further research on the role and significance of the Golden Horde in world history.
As a result of the conference, a resolution was adopted - to open a research center for the study of the history of the Jochi ulus and the Kazakh Khanate on the basis of Al-Farabi KazNU, to develop special educational programs for training young specialists in the history of the Middle Ages (undergraduates and doctoral students). In addition, it was proposed to make a proposal to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan to increase the number of educational grants in these specialties.
