LOOKED FOR THE CAMPUS MODERNIZATION PLAN
9/24/2021At the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, members of the Board of Directors Armanzhan Baytasov and Gulmira Eleuova visited and got acquainted with the campus development plan. The honored guests visited the exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence, the exposition of which presents the works of the First President of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev and valuable books on the history of the country.
After the Chairman of the Board - Rector of the university Zhanseit Tuimebayev presented a plan for the modernization of the university buildings. In particular, he spoke about the construction and reconstruction of hostels, educational buildings and housing for teachers and staff.
Today, the university has 18 educational and laboratory buildings, 17 dormitories, the Al-Farabi library, a sports complex, the U. Zholdasbekov Palace of Students, a food complex, a DSP "Keremet", a technopark. In terms of modernizing the campus and university buildings, a major overhaul of educational buildings at the faculties of philosophy and political science, pre-university education, oriental studies, as well as the building of a sports complex and a food complex is planned. Also, in the coming years, it is planned to reconstruct and build new dormitories for students, academic buildings and office housing for teachers and staff.
The members of the Board of Directors were presented with a draft design for the reconstruction of 14 dormitories of KazNU. It was noted that from September 1, 2023, the norm of the law on the compulsory provision of all students in need with places in the hostel comes into force. To implement this law, KazNU plans to start construction of new student dormitories. The plan also reflected information on the construction of service housing for employees.
A study tour around the campus, accompanied by the university leadership, continued at the Situational Management Center (CSO). The guests were shown a monitoring system to ensure security on the territory of the university. The rector of the university drew the delegation's attention to the equipment of the CSO with modern digital means of communication, which allow interactive collection and analysis of information for general control. Thanks to the developed IT infrastructure of the university, it is possible to track the progress of the educational process at 16 faculties.
Further, the guests got acquainted with the progress of repair work in the classrooms and the reconstruction of the facade of the educational buildings of the Higher School of Economics and Business, the Law School and the Faculty of Journalism. In addition, during a visit to the campus, detailed information about the activities of the university was given and the main directions of work were announced.
The next point of the visit was student dormitories - No. 7 of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology and No. 8 of the Faculty of Information Technologies. Rooms and corridors where major repairs are required were inspected. Discussing the current state of the hostels, the parties noted that the lighting, ventilation, water supply and sewerage systems do not meet technical standards and require complete replacement.
The members of the Board of Directors got acquainted with the main directions of the university development strategy, scientific and innovative potential and the work plan for the development of the KazNU campus for 2021-2025 and wished the university success in its future work.
