SCIENTIST OF THE KAZNU IS AWARDED WITH THE STATE AWARD

On the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, acting Gulnar Ultanbekova, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, as part of a team of authors, was awarded the State Prize "Al-Farabi" for a scientific project on the development of a domestic antibiotic. This award is the highest recognition of the achievements of figures in the field of science and technology to society and the state.

Today the Chairman of the Board - Rector of the University of KazNU named after Al-Farabi Zhanseit Tuymebaev received the laureate and congratulated him on the high achievement.

At the meeting, the head of the university focused on the work of scientists who have achieved great success in the field of pharmaceuticals. “Receiving the most prestigious award in the field of science and technology is the result of your deep research and scientific achievements,” the rector said addressing the acting Associate Professor of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of KazNU Gulnar Dautbaevna. At the end of the meeting, G. Ultanbekova was awarded the medal of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi "Eren enbegi ushin".

The new domestic antibiotic has a wide spectrum of antifungal activity. On its basis, a highly effective drug "Roseofungin-AS" has been created, intended for the treatment of various fungal infections in humans. In the Research and Production Center for Microbiology and Virology, not only the development of this drug has been completed, but also the production line for its industrial production has been fully prepared. The cost of the first and so far the only domestic drug for medical purposes is three times lower than foreign analogues.

The head of the laboratory - candidate of biological sciences, acting head of the laboratory took an active part in the work on the project. Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, KazNU Gulnar Dauletbaevna Ultanbekova. The main directions of her scientific activities are: the study of nitrogen-fixing properties of nodule microorganisms and the development of biological products based on them, the study of the growth-stimulating and antifungal properties of rhizosphere bacteria and the creation of biological products for crop production. Gulnar Dauletbaevna is the author of 29 scientific articles and 5 innovative patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Head of the laboratory of biology of nitrogen-fixing microorganisms since 2013. During this period of work of the laboratory, more than 80 scientific works, 2 monographs were published, 9 patents were received.
