THE HIGHEST STATUS OF A JOURNALIST IS HIS INDEPENDENCE

At the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, the President of the International Turkic Academy, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Republican newspaper “Egemen Qazaqstan”, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Darkhan Kydyrali delivered a leadership lecture. During the meeting, he shared his knowledge and experience in the field of journalism.

The Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU named after Al-Farabi Zhanseit Tuymebayev greeted the guest and emphasized that Darkhan Kydyrali is a person who makes a significant contribution not only to the development of journalism, but also Turkic studies.

“Today, being an experienced media specialist, Darkhan Kydyrali heads the main newspaper of the country. He managed to raise the status of the publication to a new level, according to the requirements of the time. His works in the field of Turkic studies are a rich heritage for the Kazakh people. Today he specially came to his native university to share his experience with students,” the head of the university said.

At the end of his speech, Zhanseit Tuymebayev awarded the guest with the badge “Eren enbegi ushin”.

In turn, the Chairman of the Board of the newspaper "Egemen Qazaqstan" expressed gratitude and noted that Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is one of the largest and strongest universities in Central Asia.

During the leadership lecture, Darkhan Kydyrali dwelled in detail on such issues as: the role of the media in the formation of New Kazakhstan, the development of ideology in modern society, issues of science, education and spirituality.

The public figure believes that today it is necessary to focus on the role of a journalist in society.

“We often talk about raising the status of a journalist. For example, they express an opinion about the need to equate it with the status of a civil servant. But, I don't agree. This is how we restrict their rights. The highest status of a journalist is his independence, the main weapon is freedom of speech.

In the newspaper "Egemen Qazaqstan" we try to write critical articles, topical problems of society. We carefully analyze all publications,” says Darkhan Kuandykuly.

The audience listened with great attention to the speech of the scientist and actively asked questions.

It is worth recalling that earlier within the walls of KazNU. Al-Farabi was given leadership lectures by ex-president of Turkey Abdullah Gul and statesmen Kanat Saudabayev, Kanat Abuseitov, Dulat Kuanyshev, Gulzhan Karagusova and others.
