KAZNU STRENGTHENS COOPERATION WITH THE BRITISH UNIVERSITY

10/26/2022

Today our goal is to introduce the education system of Kazakhstan into a single European educational space in accordance with international standards, increase the recognition and competitiveness of universities by creating joint educational programs and implementing double-degree programs. To achieve this goal Al-Farabi Kazakh National University strengthens ties with leading universities in the world. Cooperation with the University of Birmingham was established in 2018, which is one of the best research universities in the UK according to QS World Universities Rankings.

The main principle of each university is improving the competencies and enriching the human capital of each student by involving foreign scientists in the educational process. The graduate of Oxford University, Professor of the University of Birmingham Bernie Sebt has been working at the Department of Diplomatic Translation at KazNU since 2020. The Professor teaches undergraduates on the subject "Professional foreign language".

“It is a great honor for me to work at Al-Farabi University, which is the largest and the most famous university in Kazakhstan. The level of knowledge of students is very high. While working here, I have gained a lot of experience. It is not a coincidence that Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is in a high ranking. I love Kazakhstan in general. Previously, we conducted research in Astana, Kyzylorda, Turkestan, Baikonur. There is no word to describe the beauty of Almaty. I really liked the city when I saw a photo of the university located at the foot of the mountains. Currently, Professor Almash Seydikenova, the Head of the Department of Diplomatic Translation of the Faculty of International Relations of KazNU conducts her research work in the Department of "Modern Languages" of our University. She also participates in all the events, makes presentations at workshops, and builds rapport with colleagues. We have been cooperating for four years by e-mail Skype, Zoom, Whatsapp, which contributes to the signing of a memorandum of mutual cooperation between the two universities. In order to implement the academic mobility of students and the study of the Russian, we plan to organize a "Summer School" program. Consequently, students of the University of Birmingham can visit Al-Farabi University. I am sure that the exchange of students will further strengthen the ties between the two universities," says Professor Bernie Sebt.

Thus, by inviting professors from leading universities of the world to lectures, we can gain new experience, increase the popularity and authority of the university, broaden the horizons of students, gain new knowledge, enrich their spiritual, human and cultural capital. We hope that the establishment of mutually beneficial relations will bring contacts between the two universities to a new level.
