3/7/2023

The forum "New Kazakhstan and Women Creators" dedicated to the International Women's Day - March 8 was held in the Palace of Students named after U.Zholdasbekov.

The forum brought together representatives of the leadership, foreign guests, academic staff and employees of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event was opened by rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev: "We called today's forum "New Kazakhstan and Women Creators ". Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said: "The path to new opportunities for the women's community is open in an independent country. Women are actively involved in the social and political life of the country. Women play a special role in the moral education of the younger generation. We must educate the competitive youth of the New Kazakhstan, armed with new knowledge. Universities should contribute to solving national and global problems. In this regard, the work of women scientists is especially valuable. The state creates all-round conditions for the development of talented and purposeful women, so we will continue to expand the role of women in science and higher education in society and provide them with constant support".

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Kazakhstan Madalina Lupu also spoke at the event, conveying on behalf of the Embassy and on her own behalf the best wishes to the female half of the academic staff and students of KazNU.

Ms. Lupu noted that she was glad to take part in this forum. In her speech, the distinguished guest said that the Romanian Embassy intends to strengthen relations in the cultural and educational field. Romania was one of the first countries in the world to recognize the Independence of Kazakhstan. The two countries established diplomatic relations in July 1992. "Last year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations between Romania and Kazakhstan. We are glad that last year after the pandemic, despite the international situation, we managed to restore contacts in an offline format, and we held a number of important joint events. I would like to mention only two major events. This is the 16th meeting of the Kazakh–Romanian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, which was held in Astana and an interdepartmental consultation at the level of deputy foreign ministers. Within the framework of it, a convention was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and Kazakhstan. I am glad that I am at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and we are developing close relations in the educational sphere. We have agreed on a number of agreements between universities in Romania and Kazakhstan, and signed cooperation agreements with the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. We are very grateful to you and intend to develop joint cooperation."
