INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE “MARGULAN READINGS” IS HELD AT KAZNU

The international scientific and practical conference "Margulan Readings - 2023", organized by the Institute of Archeology named after A. Margulan and the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Historical Faculty of the University, has started at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The "Margulan Readings" has been held since 1989. It is a traditional platform for discussing current issues and prospects for the development of archaeological science and at the same time an advanced scientific event for the exchange of views and integration of the world scientific community in the field of studying, preserving and popularizing ancient and medieval history.
The event is attended by leading Russian scientists, representatives of the scientific community of Kazakhstan, Germany, Belgium, Australia, France, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Armenia.
The conference was opened by the Director General of the A.H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology, Candidate of Historical Sciences Akan Ongaruly. In his report "Archaeological sScience of Kazakhstan: State and Prospects", he outlined the current directions of research work, issues and topics that require special attention.w
The plenary session was also attended by: Deputy Director of the Margulan Institute of Archaeology, Candidate of Historical Sciences Talgat Mamirov, researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography (Novosibirsk, Russia) Evgeny Bogdanov, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chief Researcher of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhakent Taymagambetov (Astana, Kazakhstan) and others.
Further, the conference will continue in the format of breakout sessions in the areas of archaeologists of antiquity, the Early Iron Age, the Middle Ages, interdisciplinary research in the field of archaeology, etc.
As part of the conference, a round table will be held on the topic "Current Problems of Studying and Preserving the Archaeological Heritage of Kazakhstan".
During the event, archaeologists, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and local executive bodies will discuss the problems of studying and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Kazakhstan and consider ways to solve them.
