THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE CONFERENCE ON INTERACTION AND CONFIDENCE BUILDING MEASURES IN ASIA SHARES HIS EXPERIENCE

Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybai delivered a leadership lecture at the Al–Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic "CICA is a Platform for Intergovernmental Dialogue to Ensure Peace and Security in Asia".

Kairat Shoraevich Sarybai is a Kazakh statesman and diplomat. Since 1991 he has been working in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Over the years, he worked as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkey, Germany, Austria and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to International organizations in Vienna, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovenia.

Thanking the university administration for the warm welcome, Kairat Shoraevich shared his thoughts: “It is a great honor for me to give a lecture at such a fantastic university, the history of which truly inspires me. Abu Nasr once said: “Show me the youth of the state, and I will predict the future of this country” I have the impression that future diplomats, ambassadors who will bring great benefits to our country are sitting here.”

In his lecture, Kairat Sarybai made an excursion into the history of the creation of the CICA, initiated by Kazakhstan 30 years ago. In detail, the lecturer told about the goals, objectives and prospects of the forum, whose activities are aimed at strengthening cooperation, ensuring peace, security and stability in Asia. The audience showed great interest in the topic, asked questions to the lecturer and actively participated in the discussion.

At the end of the event, the rector of KazNU awarded the honorary guest with the medal "Yeren Enbegi Ushin" for his contribution to the development of scientific and educational activities of the university.
