KAZNU EXPANDS COOPERATION WITH THE US UNIVERSITIES

The Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Penn State University (USA) visited the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Stephen Barnes and former US Ambassador, Professor Dennis C. Jett.

Welcoming the US delegation, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev spoke about the international activities of the university, achievements and cooperation with partner universities of the USA.

KazNU and the US universities have signed 13 cooperation agreements in the field of science and higher education with the following universities: Michigan Technological University, Northwestern Polytechnic University, Iowa State University, Universities of Wyoming, Scranton, Texas, etc.

Over the past five years, over 44 doctoral students and one undergraduate student have completed scientific internship at American universities under the academic mobility program. 33 instructors of KazNU also visited the USA in order to implement scientific projects and participate in international symposiums. Since the beginning of the 2022/23 academic year, 11 doctoral students have completed internships at US universities. At the beginning of 2023, a doctoral student of the Faculty of Oriental Studies was invited as a candidate scientist for a research internship at Harvard University, and a student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology successfully completed her studies at Central Washington University under the academic mobility program under Global UGRAD.

Every year, students from the USA study at KazNU through an agreement with the American Council for International Education. 51 students are studying at KazNU this year.

In turn, the US delegation thanked the leadership of the KazNU for the warm welcome.

The parties discussed a range of issues related to the scientific and educational process, and agreed on further cooperation. In conclusion, memoranda of understanding and partnership were signed, the purpose of which was to establish cooperation in the field of education and research, the development of academic mobility among students and academic staff, the implementation of a dual degree program. Rector of KazNU Zh .Tuimebayev also proposed to open a branch of the Penn State Law at KazNU.
