An international scientific and theoretical conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scientist, ethnographer, turkologist Yedige Tursynov was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The conference "The Scientific Heritage of Yedige Tursynov in the Methodological Context of Modern Humanities" was attended by domestic and foreign philologists, academicians and students.
At the collegial meeting, the letter of congratulations of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev was read out to the participants of the conference.
In his speech, Almasbek Maulenov, Director of the Scientific Research Center of Kazakh Folklore and Literature named after Zhambyl Zhabayev, noted the invaluable contribution of Yedige Darigulovich to the study of Turkic-Mongolian folklore, epic studies, mythology and ethnography. He argued that the scientific and methodological principles of the scientist were widely used in the study of a number of humanities, such as Turkic-Mongolian folklore, musicology, ethnopsychology and ethnography.
Also at the meeting was attended by prominent cultural scientist, writer Murat Auezov, General Director of Institute of Literature and Art named for M. Auezov Kenzhekhan Matyzhanov, Professor of the Ahmet Yesevi University Shakir Ibraev, Deputy Chairman of the National Commission under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhyldyz Orozobekova and other honored guests who noted the scientist's life and work path.
