KAZNU DISCUSSES RENEWABLE ENERGY ISSUES WITH FRENCH COLLEAGUES
4/28/2023An international conference "Renewable Energy Sources: Skills and Knowledge of the Energy Transition in France and Kazakhstan" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the participation of French delegation.
The participants of the meeting visited the exhibition of scientific and innovative developments of KazNU scientists for the first time. At the opening of the conference, the Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev made a welcoming speech. "Today's event is attended by guests from the Le Havre Normandy University, University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, University of Lorraine. This meeting is the result of our partnership. Together with French universities we have introduced a double degree program in the field of oil and gas, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Alternative energy. The Kazakh-French Scientific and Educational Center "Geoenergetics" was created at KazNU. In addition, our university is preparing several joint projects with TotalEnergies," the rector stated.
In general, KazNU closely cooperates with 20 French universities. The Faculty of Chemistry jointly conducts the program "Oil and Gas Business" with the University of Lorraine. Now students of the Faculty of Physics and Technology are undergoing a scientific internship at TotalEnergies.
Speaking at the meeting, First Vice President of the University of Reims Champagne-Ardennes Christophe Clement thanked for the hospitality. "We had the opportunity to visit the faculties of KazNU and see the work within the framework of mutual cooperation. I met scientists here whom I have known for many years. They invest their knowledge and efforts in the development of science. We discussed the implementation of a common goal. Now, in the face of the challenges of the time, we will continue to cooperate in a new direction," he claimed.
Stefan Loic, Vice President for European and International Strategy at the University of Lorraine, spoke about the prospects of a power plant in the Zhambyl region. "By 2030 this wind farm will become a major renewable energy facility in the country. In this regard, I would like to note that Total Eren considers TotalEnergies as a strategic partner and will join the common project during 2023," Stefan Loic said.
Karl Tombre, Vice President of the University of Lorraine noted: "The bilateral partnership opens up new opportunities for achieving common goals in the field of education and science. We are ready to strengthen cooperation with the leading university of Kazakhstan and implement large joint projects."
Next, French Consul General Fabrice Neveu, Central Asia Vice President of Total Eren Thierry Plaisant and other members of the delegation, scientists shared their experience in the field of renewable energy sources of the two countries and expressed their suggestions.
The following innovative projects were presented to the attention of visitors: receivers based on nanomaterials, energy-saving lamps, biologically active additives based on microalgae, production of medicines based on natural raw materials of Kazakhstan, prevention and treatment of vascular pathologies, etc.
The work of the conference continued with breakout sessions "Alternative Energy as a New Scientific and Industrial Challenge in France and Kazakhstan", "Adaptation of Training to the New Needs of Specialists in the Field of Energy".
