BRANCH OF THE NORTHWESTERN POLYTECHNICAL UNIVERSITY (PRC) WILL BE OPENED AT KAZNU
5/17/2023Within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the People's Republic of China, an agreement on the opening of a branch of the Northwestern Polytechnical University (PRC) at the KazNU was signed.
At a meeting with the participation of the Presidents of the two countries, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao signed an agreement on cooperation and the opening of a branch.
The purpose of the branch is to conduct joint research, trainings and exchange of students and teaching staff and to establish of joint laboratories. Northwestern Polytechnic University is located in Xi'an. The higher educational institution, which has more than 36 thousand students, has educational and research programs in aeronautics, astronautics and marine engineering.
The branch, which will be established at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University will train students from Kazakhstan and Central Asia under bachelor's and master's degree programs in engineering, electronic sciences and technologies, IT, etc. The graduates of the program will be awarded diplomas from two universities.
It should be noted that KazNU cooperates with more than 50 universities in China, such as: Shanghai International Studies University, Peking University, Wuhan University, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Xinjiang University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, etc. In the 2019-2022 academic years, 79 KazNU students completed an internship at Chinese universities under the academic mobility program. Moreover, 37 representatives of the faculty of the university visited China to participate in conferences and improved their qualifications. Currently, 386 Chinese students studies at KazNU. The university has a Department of Chinese Studies and the Confucius Institute.
