THE FIRST MEETING OF MINISTERS OF THE MEMBER STATES OF THE ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION AT KAZNU

The first OIC-15 Dialogue Platform's Ministerial Meeting was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The international organization unites 57 Muslim countries.

The large-scale event was attended by representatives of the following countries: Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Indonesia, Iran, Morocco, Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, etc.

                                     

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurbek Sayasat opened the conference with a welcoming speech. The Minister told the guests about the measures taken by Kazakhstan to develop science.

                                    

"Today’s dynamism and success depends entirely on the development of human resources, technological breakthrough in science and, of course, an innovative view of objective reality. This is one of the key priorities of the New Economic Course of Development of Kazakhstan. Since 2022, Kazakhstan has seen an increase in science funding by 70%, while the number of scientists and researchers has increased by 1.5 times. Direct full funding of research institutes and the right to independently allocate this budget has been introduced. Specialized engineering centers and science and technology parks are developing at full speed at leading universities and large enterprises," the Minister stated.

                                      

Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev spoke at the conference, stressing the following: "Holding the first meeting of the Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in KazNU is a great honor and trust. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted: "It is very important for the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to improve the quality of education and scientific research. The Islamic world has great scientific potential. However, it is necessary to increase the volume of investments in the development of human capital, especially in the field of quality education." Recently, along with the political and economic ties of Muslim states, special attention has been paid to relations in the field of education, science and culture. The purpose of today's meeting is to unite the scientific potential of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, carry out common scientific research, train highly qualified personnel, exchange experience, expand spiritual and humanitarian ties of Islamic countries, identify new scientific directions."

                                                   

                                       

At the meeting, the principles and procedures of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform were discussed, the initiatives of the member countries and areas of cooperation were considered.

During the event, OIC Deputy Secretary General for Science and Technology Askar Musinov, the Coordinator General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) Mohammed Iqbal and members of the organization made presentations and noted the importance of the event.

                                     

                                     

Following the results of the first meeting of Ministers, the document "Almaty Rules and Regulations of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform adopted by the First Ministerial Meeting" was agreed and signed by the heads of delegations.
