MODEL OF GRADUATING STUDENT

1. to monitor socio-political conflicts at different stages of their development by conducting system analysis, questionnaires, testing, and system database management;
2. to develop projects and programs for the prevention, regulation and resolution of conflict situations in the socio-political sphere;
3. to plan, organize and implement mediation and any other conflict management and resolution activities;
4. to provide an expert assessment of the causes, escalation and possible consequences of conflicts;
5. to predict the consequences of economic, socio-political conflicts by collecting information, systematized analysis of big data, conducting public surveys and researching social processes;
6. to develop strategic and tactical recommendations in the field of conflict management and resolution;
7. to provide consulting services and analytical support for the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts during the negotiation process;
8. to teach conflictology and related disciplines in educational institutions using innovative teaching technologies.

  • Description - The course is aimed at providing the master students with all knowledge, skills and competences related to the systematic understanding of the features of contemporary social and political conflicts and the means of their management, prevention and resolution, as well as their orignies, dymamics and consiqunces. It introduces the master students to the models and techniques of conflict resolution and the role of institutions. Upon completion, the master students shall be competent to asses effectiveness of various socio-political technologies of conflict relations in comtemporary Kazakhstan.

  • Description - The course is aimed at forming the systematic understanding and knowledge as well as the relevant skills and competence on the methods and means of conflict expert evaluation, on the features and capacities of their analysis and prognosis as well as constructing the indicators of cconflicts, the instruments of their early identification, prevention, as well as the management of and mediation in conflict situations and designing programs of conflict resolution.

The course gives professional skills and communicative competences that could be applicable in the environment prone to conflict.

  • Description - The course is aimed at providing the master students with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of theoretical aspects of the stages of conflicts, i.e. excelation and deexcalation. They shall be familiar with the concepts and able to research conflicts in the Central Asian context with its energy, resource, economic and political potential. They also shall be able to differentiate between various aspects and types of conflict situations throughout Central Asia.

Conflicts in the system of power and society

The course also touches upon the economic conditions under which labor disputes tend to emerge.

Mediation in conflict resolution

  • Description - The course is aimed at providing the master students with systematic and comprehensive knowledge of mediation as an integral part of the conflict management within the applied conflict studies. Mediation is seen as an alternative means of conflict resolution. The course covers the history of mediation, the spheres of its use. The competence shall be formed to enable to assess the credibility of a mediator, his/her role and culture as well as evaluate critically the outcomes of the mediation.

The aim is to form the ability to think critically and independently and to operate effectively with major concepts of geopolitics and its structure as well as to study the current trends and possible causes of conflicts of geopolitical nature, their positive and negative implications and consequences.

Wars and revolutions as form of conflict
