December 07, 2013. Al -Farabi KazNU hosted a Almaty International Model United Nations - World popular program conducted in brainstorming mode and as a students conference. The Model UN allowes to reproduce the work of the United Nations in real-time by students of different faculties and specialties of KazNU and from the five universities of Almaty. For one day, students reincarnated diplomats acting as representatives of the five permanent Security Council members and 10 non-permanent members of the UN. The event was dedicated to the memory of the outstanding human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela. The participants welcomed Mr. Vlastimil Samek, the UN representative in Kazakhstan, who stressed the importance of the event, and addressed to young people and students in Central and South Asia. The Model UN participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the freedom fighter Nelson Mandela .
The Model UN participants were inspired by a message from the UN Secretary General, who addressed students and youth, calling to be active participants in the UN Academic Impact (UNAI). The UNAI unites the world's best universities promoting the main ideas of the UN through training programs and academic courses. The event was supported by the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty. Al Farabi KazNU conducted a series of trainings and seminars in which students learned about the rules of conduct and international relations during the high-level talks. During training Mr. Tristram Perry – Public Affairs Officer in charge of press, culture and education at the U.S. Consulate General in Almaty said that there are three reasons that inspire young people to participate in the Model United Nations. They are: an opportunity to learn public speaking, to find new friends and associates, and to build a future career at the international level. The organizers of the program at Al Farabi KazNU - Center Director UN Academic Impact adjunct professor at Columbia University Professor Rafis Abazov KazNU and Galia Ibrayeva believe that the model of the United Nations - one of the few programs in the world, which allows students to design their own fate.

The vice-director of UNESCO visited UNESCO department of Kaznu
The vice-director of UNESCO, professor G. Ushkyavishyus had visited the department of UNESCO, international journalism and public relation. On meeting with the future PR- specialists and journalists the professor told about UNESCO’ projects, and also as a guest lecturer read a course "Development of Internet MASS-MEDIA in the Central Asian region". The students of the journalism faculty joined in the discussion of bills, limiting freedom of speech in the Internet, with large interest. On motion realization of master-class the enormous amount of questions were set, on each of that the professor gave an exhaustive answer. Mister Ushkyavishyus underlined that interest in a future profession for journalists is the necessity. On farewell the professor wished to the students to obtain all their professional aims.
The professor of Ohio university had visited Kaznu
From 1 till 13October Mr. David Мould, professor of Ohio university was the guest of the journalism faculty of Kaznu, on invitation of department UNESCO, international journalism and public relation. The scientist will memorize his journey to Kazakhstan for a long time. According to him, such warm reception as in Kaznu, was not rendered him anymore nowhere. Besides the research work David Mould conducted the series of master-classes "Communication for human development" for students and teachers of faculty. All participants of master-classes got nominal certificates.
