On October 13, 2020, al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Far East, Head of the Student Scientific Circle "Shin Sede" Amirbekova U.A. together with 4th year students Sadyr Bibinur, Abai Ayaulym, Kalybek Arailym, Kenzhegaliyeva Dana organized a conference. Cultural and scientific meeting was held on the topic: "Cultural Bridge: Korea exchange student program"

In October of this year, the national innovation research center "Bilim-orkenieti" held a competition for young scientists on the way to science "Best young scientist-2020", which is held within the framework of the Republican project "Best teacher" to support young scientists in the country. By results of competition, the master student 2nd year of Department of TURKSOY faculty of Oriental studies Andirova Alina Yerezhepbaykyzy received the first degree diploma “Best young scientist-2020”, and was awarded the badge “Best young scientist" for special purposes.

On October 7, 2020, the celebration of the traditional Korean holiday “Cheosok” was held on the ZOOM online platform under the guidance of advisers Zhansaya Toktarova and Elina Kim. 1st year students of the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East took part there.

In October 2020, the Republican Competition of Young Scientists in the Field of Science "The Best Young Scientist-2020" was held, organized by the National Innovation Research Center "Bilim Orkenieti" to support young scientists of the country. According to the results of the competition, 3rd year doctoral student, teacher of the Department of Chinese Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Bisenbaeva Asel received a 1st degree diploma, and her autobiography was included in the collection "The Best Young Scientist-2020".

On October 3, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, an international webinar was held with the participation of PhD Mustafa Izzuddin, senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore, analyst in social and international affairs in Singapore.

On October 2, 2020, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, was held a photo exhibition dedicated to the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, an Indian political and public figure, one of the leaders and ideologists of the Indian independence movement.

Abai Day - August 10 - was widely celebrated not only in Kazakhstan, but all over the world. The online format gave all the events a special character, all participants felt a sense of unity and spiritual closeness, despite the huge distances separating them.

On September 22, 2020, rector Mutanov Galymkair Mutanovich and dean of the faculty of Oriental studies of al-Farabi KazNU Yhtiyar Paltore and the teaching staff of the Department of TURKSOY met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Kazakhstan Ufuk Ekici. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possibilities of establishing close, friendly cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere of the Republic of Turkey and KazNU.

This year September 21, the Faculty of Oriental Studies was visited by Batyrkhan Kurmanseit, an orientalist, Japanologist, Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations.
Batyrkhan Kurmanseit currently serves as Ambassador at large to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In September 14, 2020, graduate of 1994 A.K. Isagaliyev visited the Faculty of the Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Currently, Isagaliyev Arman Kairatovich is an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Qatar.
