2nd year students of the Department of the Far East and Japanese students studying at the Kazakh National University, went hiking to the Kok-Zhailau mountains near Almaty.

On January 20 this year at Al-Farabi KazNU Faculty of Oriental Studies, in the Department of Turksoy in the "Center of the History and Culture of Azerbaijan" hosted the "Ambassadorial Hour". The aim of the ambassador hour of Azerbaijan is to strengthen friendly relations between the Kazakh-Azerbaijani peoples, to promote the dissemination of the culture of Turkic-speaking countries, and to develop educational and cultural ties between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and University of Baku.

The teacher of the Department of the Far East, Faculty of Oriental Studies A.E. Belyalova held a meeting with 11th-grade students of the Bilim-Innovation Lyceum in Kokshetau. “Bilim-Innovation” Lyceum is a network of schools led by the International Public Fund "KATEV" in Kazakhstan where students are educated in four languages (Kazakh, Russian, Turkish and English) that have become prize-winners of the International Intellectual Olympiads.

During the winter school, the Department of the Far East of the Faculty of Oriental Studies received guests from the University of Tokyo, organizing a rich program of meetings and seminars.

The Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, Gen Liping, came to the treasury in Almaty and held a leadership lecture “Perspectives of Kazakh-Chinese Relations” at the Faculty of Oriental Studies for teachers and students of the Department of Chinese Studies. The lecture was attended by Consul General Geng Liping, Vice Consul Miao Hongbo, Head of the Consulate News Department Huang Tian and several Attaches, heads of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, teachers, doctoral students, undergraduates and students. The lecture highlighted the past, present and future of relations between China and Kazakhstan, as well as historical, political, economic and cultural ties.
Cooperation continues between the Faculty of Oriental Studies of KazNU named after al-Farabi and the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Tokyo. In order to exchange between the two universities, the head of the department of the Far East visited the Korean Studies Center at the University of Tokyo.

In Turksoy Department of Oriental studies faculty in Al-Farabi KazNU there was held consular hours with Ali Riza Akanji, General Consul of Turkey Republic in Almaty. During the meeting, General Consul shared with the students the history of Turkey and its current strategies. He was glad to warm welcome by teachers and administration of Oriental studies Faculty. The head of Turksoy Department U. Kydyrbayeva and Dean of Oriental studies Faculty Y. Paltore introduced dear guests with a life of faculty and its scientific centres as it was a first visit of Ali Riza Akanji in Faculty. At the meeting students and teachers could ask any questions related to international cooperation between two countries.
Professor Mohammed Ali, the cultural attache of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, arrived on a special visit to the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The cultural attache was at the reception of the dean of the faculty Yktiyar Paltore and got acquainted with the life of the faculty. Professor Mohammed Ali noted that the Arabic language is a tool of integral discourse in modern globalization, and studying Eastern languages has a special responsibility for students..
The cultural attache met with professors, students, undergraduates and doctoral students from the Department of the Middle East and South Asia and spoke about best practices and educational projects in the education system of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mohammed Ali, Saudi Arabian cultural representative, said that the meeting would be a bridge in the future to jointly organize intercultural events and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Mohammed Ali invited teachers and students of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia to undergo language training at higher educational institutions of Riyadh.
