The tradition of the annual international competition of oratory on the basis of the Kazakh National University. Al-Farabi was founded in 2011. At the beginning of April 2018-2019 school year, the 9th oratory competition was held with the participation of the Universities of Hanyang and Namseul, Republic of Korea.

At the first stage of the competition, written works of foreign students from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and also Kazakhstan were received. Among the participants of the second round were students KazNU them. Al-Farabi and ENU. L.N. Gumilev. The authors of the 13 best reports were invited to the oratorical contest, where the distinguished guests from Korean universities were the judges.

The Republican Subject Olympiad in Turkology was held on March 27-29, 2019 at the faculty of Oriental studies of Al-Farabi KazNU between the students L. N. Gumilev of Eurasian national Universitym and Al-Farabi KazNU. The Olympiad was held at a high level

April 16, 2019, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a meeting with a delegation of representatives of the Armed Forces of Pakistan headed by Commodore Aviation Mr. Zaeem Afzal. The delegation includes 20 officers, Mr. Basit Salim Shah commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Pakistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan attended this meeting.

         The Department of the Far East on behalf of the Faculty of Oriental Studies met guests in the yurt №11 with traditional Kazakh decoration on April 13, 2019. In the morning the atmosphere was festive, covered with a rich table, music sounded, we waited for guests. The peculiarity of our yurt was also in the fact that, representing the faculty of oriental studies, where 8 oriental languages are studied, we had to show all the countries studied by us. Among them are the countries of the Far East, the Middle East, South Asia, as well as Turkey and ethnic groups living in Kazakhstan.

In general, the improvised caravan of the university passed all the teachers and student dean's office. Meanwhile, representatives of all diplomatic missions of our countries, guests from partner organizations and employers found mutual understanding under the shanyrak.

The group of masters degree students of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, consisting of 26 people, successfully completed a scientific internship at the University of Oxford, which is a top university according to world rankings.

At the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the traditional open day event was held. The purpose of the event is to acquaint schoolchildren of Almaty with the departments of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, to give detailed information about admission, about the features of education at the faculty. High school students of secondary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums of Almaty, attended the event. First-year students in national costumes of Japan, Korea, India, Turkey, and China met schoolchildren

April 9 the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi KazNU hosted the International Scientific Conference "World of Farabi". The conference consisted of 4 sections.

Professor Al-Farabi KazNU gave a lecture “The present and the future of relations between Kazakhstan and China” for young people of Zhetysu.

On April 3, 2019, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Spiritual Heritage of Al-Farabi and the Modern East” was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the framework of the VI Farabi readings from April 2-12, 2019.

As invited professors, Chun Byong-Soon and Myong Soon-ok in the Department of Far East Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, visited for special lectures to the undergraduate, master, and doctorate students in the School of Humanity of Eastern Finland University (EFU, Finland, March 22); in the Faculty of Philology of University of Complutense Madrid (UCM, Spain, March 25) from 20-28 March, 2019.
