At the department of the Middle East and South Asia, a meeting was held with the deputy director of the Tajik ethnocultural center "Somonien" diplomat Inoyatulo Valiev and director of the national-ethnographic association "Adyrna" Arman Aubakir. 

On October 4, 2018, at the Near East and South Asia Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi was held a meeting with R.A. Alpysbaev, the head of the department of internal policy of the Almaty region, PhD, as well as a graduate from the Arab department. The meeting was attended by the dean of the faculty Y.M. Paltore, head of the department K.T. Gabdullin, undergraduate students and teachers.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Faculty of Oriental studies TURKSOY department in cooperation with “Turan-Iran scientific research centre” and Department of Modern Turkic Languages of Philology Faculty of Istanbul University are organising online conference on the theme “Language, History, Literature: Common Turkic Values”.

Every week at the Department of Japanese Studies, the Department of the Far East, the "Club of Conversational Japanese Language" is conducted with the delegated professor of the Japanese Onishi Yumi Foundation. The activity of this club is aimed at deeper acquaintance of students with the Japanese language and culture together with the native speaker of the language and culture of this country.

Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Chinese Studies and Confucius Institute at al-Farabi KazNU, organized a gala evening on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as the World Day of the Confucius Institute.

The Far East Department together with the Japan Foundation conducts career guidance work in Kazakhstan schools for the third year. Fruitfulness of this work can be observed by annually increasing number of students of the department of Japanese studies. In the 2018-2019 academic year, the number of first-year students reached 24. Many students came from different regions of Kazakhstan.

The Middle East and South Asia Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies invites you to a meeting with the delegation of the National Cadet Corps of the Republic of India (NCCRI). The event organized by the Department of Indology will be held on October 4, 2018 at 09.00 on the 5th floor, in the Mahatma Gandhi center (room 503).

In the mini-program - an introduction to the delegation of the NCCRI, a presentation on cooperation and collaboration in the field of military education between al-Farabi KazNU and the NKCRI, Indian dances, songs, poems in Hindi.

The Middle East and South Asia Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies invites you to the event in honor of the birthday of the great Indian politician, father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. The event of the memory of Mahatma Gandhi, organized with the support of the Indian Embassy in Kazakhstan, will be held on October 2, 2018 at 09.00 on the territory of Almalinsky district of Almaty in a small park in the square of Shevchenko, Gagarin, Zhambyl and Zharokov streets.

In the program - laying flowers at the monument to Mahatma Gandhi, watching the film "Gandhi" and the evening of the memory of the spiritual leader, Indian treats.

On September 26, the Persian branch of the Middle East and South Asia Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of al-Farabi KazNU organized a meeting with the head of the Cultural Representation of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Masud Sheikhzeynadin, with students and faculty of the Faculty of History of KazNU.

On the 25th of September teachers of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, Professor Yumi Onishi and Alibi Aripov conducted professional-oriented work in secondary schools №25 and №16 in Taldykorgan.
