International Symposium "Chinese studies and Modern China 2018"

At the invitation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Nabizhan Mukhametkhanuly conducted an academic visit in China between July 22 and 28, 2018.The international symposium entitled "2018 Chinese Studies and Contemporary China" organized by the above institutions was held at the St. Regis Beijing from July 23rd to 24th.Participants in the symposium included 11 Chinese scholars and 28 Sinologists from 24 countries.Representatives of the “Young Sinologist” were also invited to participate in the symposium, including Serikkalieva Azhar Yermekovna of our Department of Chinese Studies.

The symposium was hosted by the Deputy Minister of Culture. The first speaker was Paul Gilmore Clifford from Harvard University.

On the 24th, the symposium continued in the St. Regis conference room. During the meeting, Professor Nabizhan Mukhametkhanuly reported on the topic “The Development of Capacity Cooperation in Kazakhstan and China”.
