Department of the Far East of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, in the framework of academic mobility, cooperates with many highly respected universities of Japan. Among them: Saitama University, Osaka University, Waseda University, Hokkaido University, Tokyo University of Foreign Languages, Tsukuba University. Also there is close cooperation with the international funds of the Japan Foundation and the Nippon Foundation, which contributes the professional development of the faculty members. Annually, in the framework of cooperation with these universities, students and teachers of KazNU have the opportunity to go for an internship at the universities listed above.
Similarly, the Japanese government provides different types of study abroad programs on a scholarship basis with the period of 6 months and more. Their list includes such programs as
MEXT - sponsored directly by the embassy of Japan in order to develop further bilateral relations with the sending country;
Ge-NIS - mainly specializing in the CIS and Baltic countries;
The Heiwa Nakajima Foundation - founded in 1992, provides scholarships to both Japanese and international students. The scholarship is granted through a recommendation from the university;
Mitsubishi Corporation - awards a scholarship to students of the 4th year as part of a corporate program aimed at supporting talented young people.
