In order to increase the level of knowledge and competence in the field of Japanese language, acquaintance with the specifics of the language, the culture of Japan, the Department of the Far East hosted the traditional Week of Japanese Studies in KazNU. The week was filled with events together with students and professors from Japanese partner universities Tsukuba, Kouchi, Tokyo University of Foreign Languages. In the framework of the Japanese Studies week, Japanese specialists gave lectures: a lecture by the head of the Mitsubishi Corporation Yasuda Toro on the topic “The Economy of Japan”, a lecture by student Yoshida Schogo from Kouchi University on the topic “Medicine and Health in Japan”. Teachers of KazNU held a series of special lectures for Japanese students. One of the most vivid and memorable events of the week was the program of homestays with the participation of Japanese students and students of 1-4 courses of the Japanese Studies Department. Also, as part of the Japanese Studies Week, an annual Kazakhstani competition of speech in Japanese was held. A joint trip to the Tanbaly tract, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has contributed to an even greater cultural exchange. Traditional Week of Japan has become a good platform for discussion and exchange of experience with foreign experts.
